Oskar Fischinger - Musik für die Augen

Long before there were computer-animated images, Oskar Fischinger compiled abstract forms, pulsating color patterns and moving animations and combined them with music in short experimental films. In this documentary, Harald Pulch sheds light on the life and work of the "father of the video clip" and also shows an exclusive interview from 1993 with Elfriede Fischinger, the filmmaker's widow and colleague. In it, she talks about the couple's life as artists, who first worked in Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin and finally in Hollywood.

The Mega Dumper

The Volvo A60 is regarded as the world’s largest articulated hauler. With a payload capacity of up to 55 tonnes, it is capable of transporting even the heaviest materials with ease. When fully loaded, the vehicle reaches a total weight of nearly 100 tonnes. The XXL hauler is manufactured in Braås, southern Sweden, where around 550 employees produce a total of six different hauler models. The A60 is the largest vehicle built at the plant, and due to its enormous weight, most components can only be installed using cranes.

Basilico – Master of Urban Landscapes

Architecture photographer Gabriele Basilico captures the post-industrial transition of Italian cities. Basilico’s lens turns everyday objects such as chimneys, electricity cables and a telephone pole into aesthetic objects. His work lends aesthetic qualities to places and objects that would not otherwise possess them. A view that was far ahead of its time. Today, industrial heritage is automatically understood to possess value. A group of photography students study and dissect the work of this Italian photographer.

Because We Bleed

The film mixes the journey of a fictional character, an unknown entity played by drag performance artist Beaujangless, with documentary roadside encounters in a nocturnal car ride through the ‚City of Angels’. Observations of people passing by, accompanied by an AI-generated voice-over reciting first-person narratives from interviews, intertwine with sequences of the main character dancing to Holly Herndon‘s song ‚Frontier’. The film explores narratives as both center and limit of human world experience and self-awareness, the concept of an immortal human soul in neo-religious, dataist times, as well as the USA as a collective narrative of capitalist superiority in decay. ‚Because We Bleed‘ is a meditation on storytelling and a poetic journey into a new, dark age.

Kash Kash: Without Feathers We Can't Live

My hometown, Beirut, is torn apart by a corrupt political elite, anti-government protests, and one of the biggest explosions of the 21st century. But above the roofs of the city, I discovered an unexpected bearer of hope: the pigeon game of chance "Kash Hamam". Every evening, the sky populates, and all over the city swarms fly out of their cages. Their flight follows the choreography of an ancient tradition. Each player holds their own flock and lets it circle over his house, with the chance to lure the pigeons of the neighbors onto his roof to expand his flock. During the recent political collapse of Lebanon, we embark on a journey from roof to roof. When it all perishes, why do we hold on to flying? The film observes a city in turmoil from the perspective of three pigeon players and a young girl fighting to release her own birds.
