Sécurité intérieure : surveiller pour protéger ?

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz) was founded in 1950 and, since reunification, has relied on the 1990 German Constitutional Protection Act to provide an "early warning system" against threats to democracy. While this intelligence service has been targeting far-left groups and radical Islamists for decades, its critics recently accused it of being "blind in the right eye" - in other words, of neglecting the rise in violence attributed to the far right. Indeed, the institution was powerless to thwart the series of fatal attacks perpetrated between 2000 and 2011 by the neo-Nazi group Nationalsozialistischer Untergrund (NSU, "National Socialist Underground"), sparking astonishment and an avalanche of criticism in Germany.

40 Jahre Böhse Onkelz - Ein kurzer Abriss der Geschichte

Forty years of Böhse Onkelz. We let it melt on the tongue with cake and beer. And because we can't celebrate this insanity, which cannot be expressed in words, with you personally, we chopped our heads together to serve you something for the anniversary - the result was a 45-minute punch of the very best. A distillate, an outline of our years together and the ups and downs of the rapid journey from the first punk pogo party in the youth center to the sea of flags in the Waldstadion. Well get it.

Los Andes Symphony Orchestra

The North of Cauca is the region of Colombia most affected by the internal armed conflict since 1940. There is an orchestra of ancestral music composed of young indigenous people of the Nasa ethnic group who, with their instruments, their voice and their poetry, remember Maryi Vanessa Coicue, Sebastian Ul and Ingrid Guejia, three of the hundreds of indigenous children who have died because of this eternal and useless war between leftist guerrillas, armed groups of the extreme right, drug traffickers and the Colombian State.

THE GOLDFINCH (After Fabritius)

The European Goldfinch is a wild bird which from early times has been admired, captured and caged for its beauty. That was also true of Amsterdam and Delft in 1654 when Carel Fabritius, a pupil of Rembrant, known for his experimentation with perspective and light, made his now famous painting 'The Goldfinch'. Today in the UK the wild Goldfinch can still be seen in captivity in small backyard aviaries or as dead specimens represented in Natural History Museums.
