They learn that the standard American diet — high in fat, sugar and salt and low in fiber and nutrients — is the culprit behind many chronic illnesses. With hope, they discover this epidemic of diseases — heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure — may be reversible. By embracing the benefits of a whole-food, plant-based diet, they’re able to improve or reverse their chronic conditions and find renewed energy and vitality. Weaving together personal stories and evidence-based science, PlantWise puts forward an inspiring message of hope.

Innermost

Innermost is a visual / audio installation in collaboration with Natasha Barrett. This work's stereoscopic imagery and high-order ambisonic sound composition crafts new mechanisms of sound / image relationship out of dense and joyous field recordings of public gatherings in Oslo. This material, absent of protest, political rally or the threat of violence, yet amassing the free expression of individuals forms the basis of a magical synthesis of experience, paradoxically transporting the audience to the everyday.

Caregiver: A Love Story

After four years of battling cancer, 60-year-old Bambi Fass had had enough. Her decision was supported by her husband Rick, who was reluctant to let go of a woman he had met only three years earlier. A journey that begins with song-filled community gatherings, however, soon turns challenging as Rick is left alone to care for Bambi in her final weeks.

The Green Land

The mountains, the fjords, the ice. Greenland's vast landscapes give the impression of being eternal, with man as a mere passing guest. But the changes are underway, and in his magnificent cinematic work, the visual artist Inuk Silis Høegh intervenes in the monumental nature of his country to let creation and doom be reflected in each other. Big words, but nothing less can do it in a work that unites film, installation, Land Art and sound art (with a sound page created in close collaboration with Jacob Kirkegaard) in a meditation on the elements and our own volatility. Is the Arctic wilderness only wild because man cannot control them? Or is it man himself who is out of control?

Dear Rodeo: The Cody Johnson Story

Dear Rodeo: The Cody Johnson Story, a brand-new cinematic feature-length documentary, is the much bigger picture, recounting Johnson’s real-life journey from the dusty rodeo arenas of rural Texas to some of the biggest musical stages in America. Every emotion Johnson felt over the past 20 years – whether he was standing in the back of the chute at the rodeo or singing about it in front of 75,000 fans – is captured vividly in this big screen experience, with all the highs and lows that come from the dreams you cling to and the dreams you ultimately let go of. Featuring interviews with Reba McEntire, Taya Kyle (the widow of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle), and more, this evocative and celebratory film is a love letter to everyone who has had to abandon a dream in order to find true purpose.

The Elvermen

Shot over a moonlit night, The Elvermen is an atmospheric film that reveals the last of a hidden community hunting an endangered fish. As the sun sets on the banks of the River Severn, on the outskirts of an impoverished city in the UK, a group of men race to catch a vanishing creature, the elusive elver (baby eel), supposedly worth more than its weight in gold. Over the course of a single night, the film surveys the mysterious world of the Elvermen: fathers, sons, brothers and friends addicted to the gamble of the stake-out, and the promise that it offers. Phone calls of frustration and joy echo down a river lit by head torches. The Elvermen shows how a rite of passage has changed into a fight for values: for tradition, for community, and for a connection to nature in an environment of impending change.

40 Nickels

Based her grandfather’s boyhood in St. Louis, Yasmin Gorenberg tells a story of the pain passed from refugee parents to their children and the hope that can overcome it. “40 Nickels” captures the image of a generation of immigrants to the United States in the 1920’s and 1930’s and through that spotlights the effects of the 1919 pogroms in Eastern Europe. This is a film about parents and children: how trauma never leaves a family, and how hope and resilience is also passed down. It asks the question: Can a new generation look at the world with wonder rather than fear?
