Please Don't Beat Me, Sir!

Over sixty million Indians belong to communities imprisoned by the British as "criminals by birth." The Chhara of Ahmedabad, in Western India, are one of 198 such "Criminal Tribes." Declaring that they are "born actors," not "born criminals," a group of Chhara youth have turned to street theater in their fight against police brutality, corruption, and the stigma of criminality — a stigma internalized by their own grandparents. "Please Don't Beat Me, Sir!" follows the lives of these young actors and their families as they take their struggle to the streets, hoping their plays will spark a revolution.

Little Men

A short film that explores a space that is indifferent towards the queerness of being, in the midst of a crumbling, dilapidating neighbourhood. In this space, two men, who have a seemingly deep but incomprehensible bond, try to coexist seamlessly while making space to accept the inherent fluidity of human sexuality, for one another. As their exploration, of the 'queer' within, acts in sync with the space around them, their relationship goes through a silent but unrestrained struggle.

Yahaan Sabki Lagi Hai

YOU ARE HERE is an allegory on the journey of life, especially at times when one feels victimized or shortchanged. The film looks at the way we so casually live in a class system built on blatant economic and social disparities, the way we so want to be fooled by our belief systems. By exploring a counter-point for every point, the film subtly questions not only our material value system but also our emotional value system. The plot revolves around a road trip gone wrong. The idea was to keep the seriousness of the situation but present it in a humorous manner with characters, plots, and nuances that are realistic but at the same quirky and humorous, leaving the audience with a feel-good buzz.
