In the mountains north of Chiang Rai an animistic hill tribe follows their ancient beliefs. One such belief is that a widow known as a "Mida" must be appointed to teach men how to have sex before they marry so that they can have lots of children. This is a great honor for anyone that gets this position. One day some young pimps from Bangkok show up with the intention of convincing the local girls to go to work in brothels down there. They employ two locals to help them and pay them with things like tape recorders, watches and clothing. Once they leave the two who got the tape recorders etc. find out they cannot buy batteries up there, have no electricity and realize they have been cheated. The local people then begin to hate outsiders. Another Bangkok man comes up and at first they think he is just another pimp but find out he is a volunteer teacher. What fate awaits him, "Ah Por" and the girls who decided not to go?

Set in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture in 1954, movie tells the tale of 14 year old boys: their friendships, fights among friends, and rebellions against the school. It also tells the story of the adults who live around the boys. This is a nostalgic, bitter, and sentimental journey into lives in the post-war environment.

Drama about a young boy who suffers from a rare deficiency disease. The medicine he has to take every day has the side effect of making him reek of ammonia. Gwang-tae is pressured to pay his debt by a loan shark, and finally decides to sell his liver for the money. He asks his friend Gil-do to make an arrangement, and is contacted by yakuza who want to save their dying boss. But Gil-do disappears with Gwang-tae's money, and Gwang-tae holds out against the gang, saying he is not going to Japan until he catches Gil-do. So Gwang-tae and the yakuza chase after Gil-do, and in turn, the loan shark chases them.

Tarachime is a documentary film which observes 'life' through childbirth. Kawase Naomi, a film director working under the theme of family, life and death, presents the bond of life through her own childbirth experience. "First, I was planning to film from the day I conceived a child and to the moment I gave birth. But I realized, while filming, that this is not the story of "one life." In the end, the film sublimed to a higher stage on which we can witness the knot tying one life with another."

This film is an adaptation based on the 1988 Japanese film Kaisha monogatari: Memories of You, written and directed by Jun Ichikawa. This film follows the story of "Chief" Cho Min-hyuk (Baek), a middle-aged corporate manager nearing his retirement after working for 30 years in the same company. Cho and other colleagues in the office secretly have held dreams of being rock musicians but they suppressed those ambitions in order to get stable office jobs and support their families. During the film Cho and others resume their interest in playing musical instruments and form a band together. However Cho struggles to deal with office politics that result from his upcoming retirement as well as the anxiety for his and his family's future post-retirement.

Takase, who was a manager of a small and medium-sized company, was laid off. After having sex with a prostitute, he went to look for a job with a resume in hand, but it didn't go well and he got drunk and came home. He treated his wife Noriko harshly and forced her to have sex with him. The next morning, a note was left and Noriko was nowhere to be seen.

One of three films commissioned by the Jeonju International Film Festival in 2005. A couple escaped their family to look for a spiritual tree in the jungle. There is a song at night, a song that spoke about an innocent idea of love and a quest for happiness. Worldly Desires is an experimental project where I invited a filmmaker friend, Pimpaka Towira, to shoot the love story by day and the song by night. The story, Deep Red Bloody Night, was written by my assistant who wanted to reprise a forbidden love story in a more romantic time in the past. I picked a pop song, Will I be Lucky? to convey a sense of guiltless freedom one feels when being hit by love.
