Vivere

In a respectable suburb made up of row houses, Luca Attorre — a freelance journalist who struggles to get his features published in the papers — is unable to maintain Susi, a ballerina reduced to teaching dance to overweight women, and Lucilla, their quiet and imaginative six-year- old daughter who suffers from severe bronchial asthma. They are helped economically by Pierpaolo, Luca’s seventeen-year-old son from a previous relationship. Pierpaolo lives in an Art Nouveau house with his mother and grandfather, an important trial lawyer of cases linked to politics who rakes in several million euros a year. In the setting of a magnificent and incomprehensible Rome, both a good mother and a bad one, Mary Ann, a deeply Catholic student of art history from Ireland, au pair for the little Lucilla, is caught in the middle.

A Virgin Named Mary

A second coming? This time our savior chose a shantytown outside Turin, in the north of Italy, overcrowded by poor families coming from the south in search of a job in a factory, or less legal ways to survive. Young Maria (Cinzia De Carolis) can predict the future during her epileptic seizures, or at least that's what everyone believes, and her mother (Clelia Matania) sells her predictions and responses to the superstitious neighbors, after inducing her "trance" with electricity. One night the shock is too strong, and Maria seems to die: when she wakes up, she is found pregnant. And being a honest unmarried girl from the south, she is obviously still virgin... Notwithstanding the opposition of the local priest (Turi Ferro), everyone, including her, believes in the miracle, and prepares for a second coming, in a crescendo of fanaticism that is soon noticed by the press, and by the official church..

Djinn Tonic

The short's main characters are Simone - a young and ambition-less unemployed man, and the titular Djinn - an ancient and powerful genie that is reduced to grant wishes in a small suburban office. The first of the two wishes for a job, whereas the second only wishes to steal as many wishes as possible to his "customer", to obtain as many years of life for himself. Both characters are running from a crisis: Simone from the economic depression, and the Djinn from a crisis of the imagination that is perhaps a direct consequence of the first.

Quijote

In a landscape of fields and ruins, a group of figures move together, humble and mythical, poetic and popular. They are the characters of a Don Quixote reconstructed within multiple temporal dimensions and different imaginary horizons. Armed with a shield and spear as well as a profound knowledge of 20th-century literature, the Hidalgo of La Mancha comes back to life among pylons and wind turbines, unfinished buildings and archaic sculptures, accompanied by an ironic and sly Sancho Panza. Entrenched with courage in a crazy vision of the world and art, populated by angelic women and storytelling magicians, the knight errant comes to meet death and accept the inevitable mediocrity of reality.
