Clement Town draws inspiration from a secluded town in modern Uttarakhand, India, allegedly built by local intelligence agents for Taiwan during the Cold War. The film weaves together staged photography from historical archives and real military records, with actors engaging in conversations with those connected to the special operations on the border to recreate images moments just before the scenes captured in historical photos at the original locations.

Following the expansion of urban development, land prices in Taipei’s Shilin District soared exponentially. The Shinkong Textile plant in Shilin became the first to close down. The film depicts a corporatocracy dystopia in which a neoliberal regime of multinational corporations govern society, bringing suffering. These supposedly worthless people slowly commence to dismantle reality and the system’s lie of a bright future through both inner monologues and vocal utterances.

There are many "street barber stalls" under Hutoushan. Most of these stalls serve senior citizens and working people, and have become a traditional part of ordinary people's lives. The stall holder and the customer are separated by mesh nets, while friendships and a feeling of warmth and humanity flow between them.

David, a high school student in Taipei, has to finish a school assignment, which requires the students to conduct an oral interview with a senior family member. All his relatives live in the countryside far away from the city. Therefore, he urges his father to give him a ride to his grandfather’s. The two travel from the bustling city to a scenic small town in a rural area. While revisiting his hometown and childhood, his son’s simple assignment unexpectedly brings back precious memories, complex family history, and torrential tears for the father.

The analogue film maps our perception of the environment and how we relate to it through different perspectives and the influence of various changes. Do we perceive the city – the space we have been familiar with – in the same way when we look at it in hindsight from a plane window or watch it in a shaky 8mm video?
