It is February when the almost 60 women that make up the 40/90 Ballet get together to start working. 8 months of hard rehearsals await you. The group is made up of housewives, employees, psychologists, teachers, merchants. There are married, single, widowed and divorced. The youngest is 47 years old, the oldest 81, and except for one, none of them has ever danced professionally. With 87 years in tow, Elsa, the director of the Ballet, arrives. This great and hyperactive woman with white hair and a cane is responsible for thinking the choreographies, adapting the music, designing the costumes and lighting among many other things.

When a peace agreement between the FARC rebel movement and the Colombian government looks like it will put an end to half a century of conflicts, 30-year-old Yira visits her mother in Colombia after spending 10 years in exile in Cuba. Yira has herself become a mother and wants to give her daughter the family she never had. She confronts her mother, Ruby, with a neglected childhood in the shadow of her parents' political struggles and persecution. She wants her mother to join her in exile in Canada, so that they can finally be together in safety. But Ruby can't let go of her political ideals and choose her family instead. It is not just Yira's childhood that has been sacrificed. She has also sacrificed her own life and safety to such an extent that she has to drive around in an armoured car, constantly protected by armed guards. As the peacetime death toll continues to rise, Ruby is faced with a difficult dilemma. If she chooses her daughter, she gives up on her people.

With help from the city of Gavá, the Sahrawi painter and artist Mohamed Moulud Yeslem, presents here in the city his project “a flower for every landmine.” Through this initiative, he has mobilized schools, civil society associations, other entities and even private citizens to make flowers and bring them to be planted next to the landmines that hide the world’s longest wall, a wall constructed by Morocco in Western Sahara and which has reaped division among the Sahrawi people for over 33 years. In all, they have planted 3500 flowers, but they have also learned that they are not just planting flowers for Western Sahara, but to fight against all walls or other buriers to humankind, wherever they may be.
