Многогранник Бокурадзе

Denis Bokuradze, director of the Gran chamber theatre from the provincial Volga city of Novokuibyshevsk, is eagerly awaiting the opening of the new stage. For the city of chemists and oil workers, this will be the first real city theatre in its history – Novokuibyshevsk has never had its own theatre building before. Construction takes up all the director’s free time from work on performances, distracting him from rehearsals, taking away his health and attention. Not everything is going smoothly: the builders are missing deadlines and at some point it seems that the construction may stop altogether. The director is trying with all his might to prevent this. At the same time, he is releasing a premiere, preparing for new productions and solving a host of everyday, organizational and creative problems that arise daily in the team and make up the life of a chamber theatre…

Sam Wall: The Social Media Stalker

Following the disturbing case of a Manchester social media consultant who used the platforms she knew best to torment, smear and manipulate her victims online. Presenting herself as the target of abuse, Wall created a web of false accusations that damaged reputations, careers and lives. Through interviews, evidence and first-hand accounts, the episode exposes how digital harassment can spiral into a full-blown campaign of psychological destruction — and how hard it can be to stop once the lies are online.

Hope: In the Aftermath of War

Hope is an intimate portrait of a military family fractured by the invisible wounds of war. At its heart is Catherine, a decorated soldier and mother who returns from deployment profoundly changed—emotionally withdrawn, plagued by guilt, and struggling with addiction. Her daughter, Hope, once protected by her mother's strength, becomes a witness to her unraveling, forced to mature too quickly amid the chaos of relocation, strained family bonds, and a lack of institutional support. As Catherine battles to reintegrate, her marriage collapses, and the military’s absence of post-deployment care deepens her isolation. Her husband leaves, her daughter grows distant, and Catherine is left with the crushing realization that service came at a cost no one prepared her for.

Illiyeen

A lone rider from the imaginary state of Illiyeen crosses an empty landscape and their reflections unfold in a poetic meditation on identity and belonging. ‘Illiyeen’ is the result of a collaboration between filmmaker Nanna Rebekka and visual artist Eliyah Mesayer. A black and white film work from an imaginary state of the same name, in which a lone rider crosses an empty landscape in a meditation on identity and belonging. The Bedouin term ‘Illiyeen’ refers to a heavenly record or register where the deeds of the righteous are written down and protected. But here, Illiyeen is transformed into an allegorical ‘state of nowhere and nation of everywhere’ beyond geographical or national borders.

We, The Clean

We follow several cleaners in their daily battle against dirt. Floors are mopped, toilets scrubbed, a car washed, windows polished and a lawn cleared of leaves. These are everyday, unavoidable and universal forms of cleaning that play an obvious role in everyone’s life. Only here, the setting is highly specific: the car turns out to be a hearse, the lawn a cemetery and the interiors those of a crematorium. The everyday tragedy of cleaning is thus placed in relation to the fundamental tragedy of death.

Choibá: The Dance of the Humpback Whale

Based on an ancient legend and guided by the millenary song of the humpback whale, Choibá: The Dance of the Humpback Whale tells the story of a group of documentary filmmakers who decide to learn from the great journey of this cetacean, following its sacred migration from the coasts of the Colombian Pacific to the cold waters of Antarctica. A sensory, auditory, and visual journey that allows the viewer to enter a state of meditation and awareness, enabling them to reach their own conclusions about the importance of protecting and conserving the seas and all the living beings that inhabit them.

Clearing the Air: The War on Smog

In July 1943, dark, smoky clouds suddenly descended over Los Angeles, causing residents to complain of burning eyes, nausea, and difficulty breathing. People couldn’t see across the street and visibility was so bad that cars crashed. With World War II raging, many feared a chemical attack by the Japanese, but it soon became evident that no foreign enemy was to blame. The waves of pollution called “smog” — a combination of “smoke” and “fog” — continued and the cause remained a mystery. It was the beginning of an epic struggle for clean air involving years of scientific investigation and civic pressure, bringing together people across ideological divides in a remarkable example of bipartisanship. Their work would lead to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Clean Air Act, which have had an enduring effect on the quality of air Americans breathe.
