Além do Impedimento

In Brazil, women's football has already been banned, has been the target of sexist comments and still receives less investment than men's practice in several aspects. However, instead of stopping them, women have fought to break down these barriers and continue to grow in the sport. "Beyond the impediment" is a short documentary that uses different perspectives to address women's persistence and passion for football. Here, it's forward and the game continues. This film was created and produced by students of the NÓIS NO DOC ONLINE 2023 course, carried out as part of the É NÓIS NA FITA project.

Falcão: Meninos do Tráfico

The documentary presents the life of young favela dwellers who work with drug trafficking. The documentary was recorded between 1998 and 2006, when the producers visited various poor communities in Brazil, recording a total of 90 hours of video. The name of the documentary comes from the term "falcão" (falcon) used in the slums to refer to the lookouts who keep watch over the community and inform when the police or a rival group approaches. During the recordings the two producers had to face the hostile environment where the boys lived.

Arara: A Movie About a Surviving Movie

In 2012, Rodrigo Piquet, from the Museu do Índio, showed Marcelo Zelic, from the group Tortura Nunca Mais, a film he had found called ‘Arara‘. The title did not refer to the animal, nor to the people known by that name. Zelic underline it as an important probative record on the teaching of torture during the military dictatorship. They were images of the graduation of the Guarda Rural Indígena, in Belo Horizonte, produced by the anthropologist Jesco Von Puttkamer (1919-1994) in 1970.

This World Is Unreal Like a Snake in a Rope

Folk cinema from the eternal never-ending collage that is INDIA. A journey through the ancient Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu featuring Hindu trance ceremonies, street music, festivals, nagaswaram improvisations, impossibly loud cities, ancient temples, processions, devotions, decay, fireworks, abstractions and more. India is impossible to know: it is impossibly old and impossibly new, impossibly rich and impossibly poor, quiet and chaotic. Offered here is one perspective, raw, captured live and in the moment, with an emphasis on India's complex and mesmerizing sounds.
