In 769 km, New York

A distance of 769 kilometres is what separates a bakery in Kyiv from New York, an occupied town in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. This is where bread baked by people with intellectual disabilities ends up. Although they struggle with their own difficulties, their work saves people in the east of the country, in war-torn areas cut off from supplies. The bakery is a refuge where they can become part of a larger community, which empowers them. In wartime, there is no room for labels or social divisions – only actions matter.

(In)fidèles

"(In)fidèle" explores the relationship to fidelity of 10 people between the ages of 23 and 31. Infidelity is like the elephant in the room no one dares to talk about. It fascinates and sparks curiosity, but digging too deep might hurt. We keep it at a distance as long as we’re not personally involved, yet we indulge in gossip and "story times" when it’s about others. A distant way to either judge it or spy on it, but never truly confront it. And yet, the numbers speak for themselves: 41% of people have already been unfaithful at least once in their life, and that number keeps growing every year.

Change, Not Charity: The Americans with Disabilities Act

Change, Not Charity: The Americans with Disabilities Act tells the emotional and dramatic story of the decades-long push for equality and accessibility that culminated in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. While curb cuts, ramps at building entrances, and braille on elevator buttons seem commonplace today, they were once the subject of a pitched battle that landed on the steps of Congress. Told through the voices of key participants and witnesses, the film highlights the determined people who literally put their bodies on the line to achieve their goal and change the lives of all Americans. A story of courage and perseverance, the film brings to life one of the great civil rights movements in American history, where ordinary people made their voices heard and Congress responded. A testament to the power of coalition building and bipartisan compromise, the passage of the ADA is a shining example of democracy in action.

Shizuka Yokomizo’s video installation for the Taipei Biennial 2025 captures a quiet, personal scene: her elderly mother tending to 70 plant species on a small balcony in Tokyo. The artist observes the exchange between her mother and the plants—a system of care shaped by weather, seasons, and attentive listening. Though the plants appear indifferent, her mother sees their silence as a gift. Yokomizo reflects on the parallels between human aging and plant life cycles. The work explores care, time, and the quiet companionship between two living beings moving through life.

Shadow-Forest

One summer day in 1845, Henry David Thoreau went into the forest, and built a small house to live for a while. In this cabin, he placed three chairs: one chair for solitude, one chair for friendship, and one chair for society. Now, 180 years later, we enter his home to stay for a while and build a shadow-forest to place three tables. Thoreau left behind his writings and drawings, observing carefully the life of diverse animals and plants in the woods. The traces he left are reimagined as a performance interwoven with various other stories and shifting shadows between light and darkness. “We may no longer know how to make fire, how to pray, or where the forest to pray in is”, but on the ruins already burned, we begin to rebuild a landscape of "a home as forest" and "a forest as home."

Marsz, marsz

A Polish documentary that explores the early history of Pride marches in Poznań and the struggle for LGBTQ+ equality in Poland. It focuses on the contrast between the city’s 2020s identity as a so-called “Rainbow Capital of Poland” and its much harsher past when marches were rare and fraught with conflict. The film reflects on a first Pride march marked by a small group of around 200 people attempting to advance under heavy police presence, unable to walk more than 100 meters and facing aggressive suppression.
