In order to commemorate the Republic of China's former President, almost every city in Taiwan has a road named after him. But people have different views on his legacy, making the existence of the "Chung-cheng" roads controversial in the island nation. Driving on the Chung-cheng roads all over Taiwan, we explored and listened to the thoughts of people living on these avenues. More importantly, we collected testimonies in the service of justice of Taiwan's transformational justice path.

Wang Wen-xin, a revered novelist, is known for his deep appreciation of words and slow, deliberate writing style. He co-founded the literary magazine Modern Literature with classmates from National Taiwan University. His notable work, “Family Catastrophe,” published in 1973, was praised for its innovative language and realistic portrayal of interpersonal relationships. Another significant work, “Backed against the Sea,” took 25 years to complete and is celebrated for its modernist beauty. Wang is currently working on a new book, though its release date is unconfirmed.

Kabukicho, located on the east side of Shinjuku, is one of the more famous red light districts in Tokyo. There are over 3000 registered bars, and at least 1000 of them are Taiwanese-owned. In the late 1970s, over 10,000 Taiwanese women left for Japan for work and wealth. Most of them settled in Shinjuku. The women worked over 20 years at bars to send money back home

In 1871, a ship traveling from Miyako Island to Shuri to deliver annual tribute was caught in a storm and drifted to southern Taiwan. Onboard were 69 Ryukyuan passengers who reached an area inhabited by the Paiwan people. However, some Ryukyuans were killed in a tragic incident that later became known as the Mudan Incident. This event was used as a pretext for Japan’s invasion of Taiwan (the 1874 Taiwan Expedition) and also influenced Japan’s annexation of Ryukyu, significantly shaping the geopolitical landscape of East Asia.

The story of frivolous and lecherous emperor Qianlong's search for a morally upstanding person is told in a fashion that smartly fuses the puppet proscenium with the conventions of cinematic language. While everything is obviously arranged on a stage, the camera moves freely around in this environment, getting close to the puppets or setting them up in deep focus shots. The result is deeply enchanting, with the puppets soon feeling like living creatures of a very special kind, whose presence and company one cheerfully enjoys.

This dance film presents Nine Songs as reimagined by Lin Hwai-min and performed by Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, directed for screen by Chang Chao-Tang. Drawing on ancient ritual poetry, the work evokes prayers to heaven and earth, spirits and ancestors, as well as love and mourning. Masked gods and human figures move together in a ceremonial structure, staging a timeless vision of human experience. Premiered in 1993, Nine Songs became one of Cloud Gate’s most important works. A studio fire in 2008 nearly caused the piece to be lost, but a surviving ceremonial mask remained as a trace of its legacy. This film records the production before the fire, preserving its original form. Moving across layered time and space, the choreography creates a powerful, immersive atmosphere. Through moments of wonder, grief, and ecstasy, the work unfolds toward a state of clarity and quiet transcendence.

"Relationships" is a documentary that explores modern relationships, including relationships, family, self, residence and technology. The film begins with a 51-year-old gay marriage from two countries. We interview sociologists about their views on marriage and bring out the possibilities of relationships, including LAT, open relationships, Norway's Sambo With Särbo and others, these challenge our imaginations of modern relationships. It further explores reconciliation with family, self-exploration, emotional education, co-living, and the interpersonal impact of technology.

The Petrel Returns is the story about the pioneer of Taiwan modern dancer Ms. Tsai Ruiyue, who was born in Tainan, and had been educated in Japan. After she came back from Japan, she had met the famous poet Mr. Lei Shiyu, soon they were engaged and married while Ms. Tsai Ruiyue had decided to devoted her life to dance art and education.She has founded the first dance theater: Chung Hua Dance Theater which has encouraged many potential Taiwanese dancers after WWII.

This landmark dance film presents *Portrait of the Families*, a defining work by Lin Hwai-min and Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, directed for screen by Chang Chao-Tang. *Portrait of the Families* is a mournful elegy for loss. Dancers move amid projections of nearly 200 historical Taiwanese photographs collected by Chang Chao-Tang and the voices of oral histories, evoking the deep scars and pain left by the 228 Incident and the White Terror. This film captures the original staging from the work’s 1997 premiere.

Childhood is a dagger lodged in the throat. Spending childhood under the pressure of academic success, there was no happiness to be found. It wasn't until I grew up and started filming my family that I discovered my mother's body and mind had long aged and shattered. As my heart broke with each merciless verbal attack, who could return to my mother her lost youth? A mother and daughter, loving and clashing, after over twenty years together, finally willing to face the long-standing issues between them.

In the historically most famous ancestral house of the matrilineal Amis tribe in Taiwan, the carved pillars tell legends, such as the great flood, the glowing girl, the descending shaman sent by the Mother Sun, and the father-killing headhunting event. After a strong typhoon toppled the house 40 years ago, the pillars were moved to the Institute of Ethnology Museum. Recently young villagers, with assistance from female shamans, pushed the descendants and village representatives to communicate with ancestors in the pillars. They eventually brought the ancestral souls rather than the pillars back and began reconstructing the house.

"Politics and religion are not allowed here. We only talk about women." But after a few glasses of Kaoliang liquor, CAO's rules are naturally forgotten. Every night for 30 years, CAO would sit in front of his house and have a few drinks, and it has become a place for older men to gather. After retirement, their conversations are full of conflicts between old and new values and "masculine" topics. CAO and his buddy LAI chit chat about their inner feelings that have to be spilled out.

This is an Asian epic documentary on migrant workers spanning thirteen years. Director Jasmine first came into contact with Filipino caretakers in the Taipei nursing home, where her grandparents were under care. Living away from their loved ones, both the Filipino caretakers and the elderly residents suffer from homesickness. Stories of joy and sorrow take place between them. As wives, mothers and migrant workers, the Filipino women are smart. They know how to survive. And yet, the road home seems to grow longer and longer.

Giraffe-like construction cranes are avid eaters. They forage around in the woods and fields for their feeds: the collective longing for development and prosperity. As they crane their necks longer, they make the fantasy of progress more alluring. And that is what Chung-Ming Wang steps forward to fight. Left his stable life behind, he devoted himself into local environmentalism in his hometown Tamsui(Danshui), tried to keep it distant from developmentalism that Taipei had been suffered for long. Few years later, he decided to change his way of political participation. This documentary film depicts his third attempt to run in the City Council Election in 2014, including the difficulties and conflicts he encounters and the diverse imaginations toward progress. The film also tries to brings up an important question: do we need more edifices in our city, or we need to find a way to edify ourselves?

To him, the tens of thousands of old things piled up at home are just the epitome of people's life history and life memory. This is a behind-the-scenes documentary of "Double Vision", a Hollywood film shot in Taiwan. In 2001, Taiwan was struck by as many as nine typhoons, bringing with them an extraordinary amount of rainfall. That same year marked the first time the Hollywood film industry arrived in Taiwan with substantial funding and manpower. Although this documentary follows a production boasting an impressive international cast, it also captures a more complex reality: when the powerful machinery of Hollywood enters a country whose own film industry has all but disappeared, what should we be questioning or reflecting upon in this model of transnational collaboration? Like the typhoons that repeatedly swept across Taiwan during filming, what else did they bring besides torrential rain?

In an intimate and exciting journey to the root, the film follows a family based in Okinawa, Japan, that visits Taiwan to rediscover their family origins.

Though Taiwan's rainfall is three times the global average, its uneven distribution creates striking scarcity. Water gives and takes; it sustains life yet brings destruction. Following the sound of currents, the film reflects on water's shifting states, capturing the emotional and spiritual ties woven between people, memory and the surrounding tides.

With the form of remote audio conversation for its main narrative, the essay film consists of four chapters, each of which has its own focus but is also interconnected with each other. Blending voice narratives in four languages, moving images and literary texts, the film is mainly made from home video collections created in the 1990s from both filmmakers’ families, with home videos shot in the 1960s by a Hong Kong family as interludes. The film not only unfolds how East Asian families created their own image with amateur filming devices but also tells stories of migration, travelling, growing and familial relationships.​

A snooze alarm clock cannot wake a sleepy person. The bell of the alarm clock hence becomes a hypnotic trigger. Such an ordinary sound is redefined in our drowsy moments, and we are also liberated from the sounds that condition our lives—queue management systems, electric scooters, air raid drills, and public demonstrations. These sounds are released from the soft soil of our consciousness and grow into a new scene. And we sail with those who cannot be awakened on a boat drifting off course into a new realm projected by frequency. This is a film you can watch with your eyes closed.
