HocKEy Dream

Slovakia is a hockey nation. The land of Stanley Cup winners and world champions. However, the stellar generation is over and there are no successors. The home World Cup 2019 brought new hope. The matches of the Slovak national team were given to Košice for the first time, and for the East it was a unique chance to ignite passion in the new generation of fans. The film maps four months before the start of the championships in the lives of two people. World champion from 2002 Ladislav Nagy, who has pursued a career because of the World Cup and wants to say goodbye to it at home in Košice. And Jonáš Pahuli, a beginning hockey player, for whom the championship is a unique chance to see big hockey live and, thanks to that, to kick their own career.

Giorno di Scuola

"Giorno di Scuola" is the story of a day for pupils at the Pieve Torina primary school: the morning school bus that collects the children on the hills, the hours of lessons with syllables and questions, recess with its meetings; but also the contrast between the carefreeness of a normal school day and the surrounding difficulties, evident in the walk of a class outside the school. Hour after hour, "Giorno di Scuola" becomes the portrait of women and men of the near future who, caught in the act of learning, in turn give a lesson in lightness and teaching to see with new eyes, to observe the horizon from the of a school desk.

Looking for the Wolf: East Asia Anti-Japan Armed Front

On August 30th, 1974,a time bomb set by the "Wolf" brigade of the East Asia Anti-Japan Armed Front destroyed the Tokyo Headquarters of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. "Fangs of the Earth" and "Scorpion" soon followed with more bombings. Unlike other leftist groups at the time that sought to seize the Japanese state to build socialism, the EAAJAF were explicitly opposed to the Japanese nation-state, understanding it as an imperialist power in East Asia and a junior partner to American imperialism. Over 50 years have passed since the Mitsubishi bombing; some EAAJAF members have passed, others are still incarcerated, and some have been recently released. In the intervening years, a group of friends and family members stepped forward to support their incarcerated loved ones, answering questions about how to provide long-term prisoner support for people incarcerated by the state and condemned by society.

The Last Austrians

In a valley in the Ukrainian Carpathian forest lies the small and forgotten town of Königsfeld. In 1775, the Habsburg Queen, Maria Theresa, sent a hundred foresters and their families here from the Austrian west of the kingdom. All that remains today of the now over two century-old timber industry are factory ruins, potholes in the valley road and an increasingly seldom heard German dialect. Only a few factories survived a flood that cut the village off from the rest of the world, and left it economically isolated. An atmosphere of farewell hangs heavy in the air.

The Business of Creativity

Going into my interview with Laurel Greenfield, I thought the majority of our conversation would be about her inspiration for painting food and why she chose to pursue painting as a career. We spoke about that but ended up having a much bigger conversation about pursuing a creative career. We talked a lot about finding the balance between having a business plan and taking a leap of faith into the unknown, something anyone pursuing a creative field on their own can relate to.

Ten Days in October

"Ten Days in October" is a suspenseful documentary feature film describing, hour after hour, the unfolding of the "October events" in 2000, the worst civilian riots ever to occur in Israel, which forever altered the relations between Israeli Arabs and the State. The film is made up entirely of news clips, footage shot by protesters, and never-before-seen police footage. Together, in detailed chronological order, they describe events as they occurred in many locations around Israel that included Arab and then Jewish riots. These dramatic events left 14 people dead and hundreds injured as a result of Israeli police gunfire.
