The infamous "Memorex" tape circulated the mid-west underground scene in the mid-’90s. Shot in 1993, the film captures a transient slice of post-’80s, pre-Y2K youth culture on the eve of a new century. Following a tribe of teenage heshers and burnouts at a skate park punk show, the film is a snapshot of the stray children of the boomer generation as they navigate their anxieties on the brink of social, global, and digital upheaval. Now, on its 30th anniversary, the original VHS tape has been restored in 4K, revealing a cultural time capsule of pre-9/11 American youth; a candid documentation of a moment both electric and uncanny.

This documentary is an encounter with some of these men and women; ordinary people, sincere but lost, who tell the story of their extraordinary experiences. It is also the portrait of one amazing man: John E. Mack, a leading psychiatrist, Professor Emeritus at Harvard, 1997 Pulitzer Prize winner, and founder of the Department of Psychiatry at Cambridge Hospital. He has studied hundreds of similar cases, and explains in his book "Abduction" that what abducted people describe is real and that they are not suffering from any form of mental illness.

For the past forty years, Igor Pasternak has pursued a lighter-than-air vision: to build gigantic airships that haul cargo to otherwise inaccessible parts of the planet. In high school, in Ukraine, Pasternak formed an airship club; at Lviv National University, where he studied civil engineering, he established an airship-design bureau. Eventually, he settled in southern California and started Aeros, which builds blimps for surveillance and other purposes. His prototype cargo airship, the two-hundred-and-sixty-foot-long Dragon Dream, was destroyed in 2013 when its hangar collapsed on it. Unfazed, Pasternak now aims to produce a fleet of “Aeroscraft” cargo airships, the largest of which will be more than nine hundred feet long and able to carry five hundred tons. Pasternak spoke recently with the director and producer Gabe Polsky. Polsky’s documentary, “Red Army,” played at the 2014 Cannes, Telluride, Toronto, and New York Film Festivals, and was released in theatres in 2015.
