Rurutu Vitaria

Discovery of the community of Vitaria, on the island of Rurutu in the Austral archipelago in Polynesia. In Vitaria we are Rurutu Protestants. This church draws on its autochthony to regain control over individuals and their native land. To stay in the symbolism, it should be noted that the geographical point furthest from Jerusalem is located in the Austral archipelago, south of the island of Rapa. The prism of local Christianity will be an opportunity to focus on the lives of the people of Vitaria, to get to know Patia Taputu, a charismatic character who is a farmer, breeder and fisherman. His wife Tiare is a recognized craftswoman. The couple raised their seven children on vanilla, coffee, egg production and making woven hats from white pandanus.

Co-written by James N. Kienitz Wilkins, Kodak imagines a dialogue between a blind, mentally unstable former film technician and George Eastman himself, recordings of whom play out over a procession of photographs, home video footage, vintage Kodak ads, and animations.

In the Desert: A Documentary Diptych

In close proximity and yet without any points of contact: In the West Bank, Israeli settlers and Palestinian farmers live next door to each other - and yet in separate worlds. Omar takes his Palestinian family from their town house to the barren slopes of Mount Hebron, where they are supposed to help look after his sheep farm. The Jewish settler Avidan has settled in the immediate vicinity with a group of like-minded people in order to raise sheep in the desolate land. Avner Faingulernt documents these hermetic worlds in a radical but logical form: as two separate films that only unfold their full effect when viewed as a diptych.

Visão 2013 para Roberto Piva

A subversive take on the urban symphonies of the past, with anti echoes to São Paulo, Symphony of a Metropolis (1929) by Adalberto Kemeny and Rudolpho Rex Lustig was inspired by Walter Ruttmann’s classic Berlin, Symphony of a City (1927). This short film by Bettim & Coelho pays tribute to Piva in relation to the Brazilian city. A tribute to a poet who is missed, but also a visual and sonic epitome of explosions, nightlife and rock, which is also invoked through the self-portrait, the frantic exploration of the city and its lights.
