Martyrion, Isabelle's Story

On December 3, 2022, at just 20 years of age, Jean Paul Sofia died when he was crushed by rubble at a construction site in Kordin, Malta. His mother, Isabelle Bonnici, began a long fight for justice, launching the second public inquiry in the history of the Maltese Republic. She made her testimony even more powerful by deciding to pose for Martyrion, a photographic project that denounces environmental destruction and territorial abuse through the body and religious iconography.

Frammenti e fantasmi di un film sull'Orizzonte

A chat about time between fraternal friends who time has led to have less time to share, around a film about a memory that is already a memory, facing a creative obstacle that becomes the creation of a new space; the attempt to make an impossible work visible, together with splinters of places, flashes of the universe and fragments of lives. The spectre of a colossal film reduced to a handful of confetti thrown towards your eyes with the candid spirit of two children make believing filmmaking at Christmas.

Angela's Diaries. Two Filmmakers. Chapter Two

I felt an urgent need to continue with I diari di Angela - Noi due cineasti. Capitolo secondo, for me a world of symbols and colors. Our long journey together could only be given new meaning again. I set out, with considerable reserve, to make the second part of the film that in 2018 had had a favorable reception all over the world. I thought for a long time about how to make use again of her words, her drawings and her silences. Angela and I filmed and wrote two parallel diaries. The images I shot around Europe, America and elsewhere fit perfectly with her writings.

The Red Corridor

“Il Corridoio Rosso" is a tale of two corridors, one a copy of the other. One corridor is that of the installation curated by Giovanni Agosti and Jacopo Stoppa at the Triennale di Milano for the 23rd International Exhibition "Unknown Unknowns": the visitor crosses it to access four mysterious rooms inspired by natural elements. The other corridor is that of Agosti's own home, a place saturated with books, paintings and objects that contains - conceals - clues, traces and memories of a lifetime. Fiction and reality blur in a dual exploration that leaves unresolved the mystery of what is hidden at the end of the corridor.

The Truth: Lost at Sea

This film reveals the Israeli attack on the 2010 Freedom Flotilla, a convoy of humanitarian ships which tried to highlight the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, and break its blockade. Shot from aboard the Freedom Flotilla, directed and narrated by one of its survivors and following up on subsequent media coverage, the film shows how the dead activists & their comrades who defended their vessels were portrayed. The film reveals what really happened and how it was spun in traditional and online media outlets.

A Georgian Toast

During the filming of the documentary film “The Gift”, Giuliano Fratini meets the master Marlen Khutsiev, who agrees to speak about Tarkovsky. But before being asked any questions, as a sign of thanks to his Italian guests, he wants to talk about Italy and in particular about Fellini, about the friendship they forged at the Moscow Festival in 1963. Back then the Italian master asked to meet him, the little Georgian who had problems with the regime. This small film is a tribute to the Italian genius but also to the Georgian master.

Journey to Saharawi – The Courage to Live for Freedom

In the stunning and starkly beautiful landscape of Western Sahara, Walter Bencini recounts his journey to meet the Saharawi people, uprooted from their lands for decades and confined to desert tent camps named after the Moroccan cities where they once lived. It's the solidarity journey of a group of people from Valdarno, delivering the money and medicines raised through various initiatives directly into the hands of the beneficiaries.

Tonino De Bernardi: One Time, One Encounter

"Tonino De Bernardi - Un tempo, un incontro" is a film about the duel between two friends who are very different from one another. Two different approaches, two characters, two views that only seem antithetical meet and then open up in front of a camera. Or, more precisely, in front of the cameras. On the one hand, the eye of Daniele Segre. On the other hand, Tonino's, which almost taints the film's aesthetics. The film's development conveys a sense of immediacy, which is a fundamental principle for both directors. Daniele films Tonino and Tonino films Daniele, and this takes place in a play of associations, and in the space of an encounter. The two directors have seized this opportunity to swap views and experiences.
