We’ll Be Together

“This film is my attempt to learn about my father from his diaries. From the 1970s to the 1990s he, Yura Diversant, a well-known figure in the Moscow hippy community, published a samizdat magazine called Svoboda and created the political art group Svobodnaya Initsiativa (Free Initiative), trying to fight the Soviet system. But this is not the most important thing in my film. For me he is, above all, my father, and I never had the opportunity to get to know him before.”

Observatory

The camera glides over the blue-green mountains and suddenly picks out a silver dome on a small plateau – one of the telescopes of the Special Astrophysical Observatory, the largest and most important astronomical center in Russia. It was built half a century ago-away from the bright city lights, closer to the sky – in the mountains of the Western Caucasus in Karachay-Cherkessia. A few kilometers below is a village with panel houses, a school, a club and an administration. In a small world, lost in space and time – whether it is the Soviet seventies, or the future of the Strugatsky novels – modern artists come with their works. The film unobtrusively confronts opposites-physicists and lyricists, schoolchildren and gray-haired scientists, the dome of the telescope and the tent of the temple, artifacts and ancient mountains. But the main opposition is the small Earth and the boundless Cosmos, to which people listen with bated breath.

The Nature of Creativity

"The film is a kaleidoscope" of the opinions of its nine main characters - the greatest modern musicians, who almost confessedly talk about the most important for them, the most subtle things seriously and jokingly: about what is the gift of creativity, about the origin of "this" in a person, about how "this" is given or acquired, about where it goes, about individual and collective creativity, about rhythm and pause, about interaction with the viewer, with the world, about where "it" comes from in the end... "Film-mosaic", "film-orchestra", where everyone has their own unique voice, character, their own individual path, worthy of many films about him, but all this, surprisingly, is composed into a single voluminous statement, woven from monologues, confirmed by the author's music of the film's characters... And it all started in the Cultural Center "ART'ERIA Club", at the crossroads of all types of Art.

Park. Summer. The trees are so happy with the sun that they look like flowers. The chirp of a bird and an empty bench, on which sits a gray-haired old man-he is in a blue uniform, holding a notebook in his hands. What's he doing here? He says he's going to kill... This film is part of the documentary animation project "What am I Doing Here", conceived as a collaboration between playwright Sabrina Karabayeva and animator Maria Sedyaeva. The authors walk the streets of Yekaterinburg and ask all passers-by the same question: "What are you doing here?". Caught off guard, they tell the story as it is.

Soiga

The village of Soiga was founded by monks 400 years ago. At the beginning of the twentieth century, deforestation was organized in the Arkhangelsk region. In the 1950s, a narrow-gauge railway was built to transport timber to the Severnaya Dvina River. Now the village of Soiga is surrounded by swamps and is located 38 kilometers from the nearest highway. After the reduction of the forest fund, financial support for the road and the settlement stopped. The only way to get there is by a narrow - gauge railway, which has existed there since 1958. For about 40 years, local residents and the locomotive driver Boris Petrovich Skumin have maintained the road in good condition.

White Blood

The heroes of this picture are the winners. They were able to cope with a deadly disease, and it seems that they came out of this fight changed. They, their relatives, their doctors, and their donors talk about what and who helped them recover, about what it is like to endure cancer, about how their attitude towards life is changing. These stories, which happened almost simultaneously, are somewhat similar and at the same time very different, because each person has taken something different from the field of pain.
