Girls

Constant physical and psychological violence, forced abortions, punitive psychiatry, complete lack of privacy, inability to be with a loved one, children taken away – for tens of thousands of women trapped in the stumps of Russia, this is an ordinary life. Capable and recognized incapacitated women, who are quite able to live independently or under the supervision of a social worker, are locked up for life in the barracks of the PSNI, where hundreds of people are kept under one roof, treating them like prisoners of high-security colonies. Those who managed to get out told us their stories.

In Pursuit of the Siberian Shaman

Long suppressed by missionaries and then by Soviet anti-religious campaigns, Siberian shamanism has experienced an unprecedented revival following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the number of shamans continues to rise. But who are these new shamans? Are they tricksters, magicians, businessmen, or cultural activists? This film takes a behind-the-scenes look at a Buryat shaman living on an island in the Lake Baikal as he moves between intimate shamanic rituals performed for local clientele and shows performed at various resorts for Western tourists in search of "primitive" cultures.

The Key to the Clockwork Orange

The film "The Key to a clockwork Orange" is dedicated to the street war of anti-fascists and nationalists of the 2000s. The focus is on the musical preferences and political ideas of the conflict participants who lost their health and lives in the bloody FA-ANTIFA confrontation. It was a subcultural war, the main front of which was music. It was conducted by very similar young people who did not fit into the social structure of modern Russian society. Now they have matured, and the activity of street confrontation has decreased. The main feeling that the heroes of the film, named after the cult novel by Anthony Burgess and Stanley Kubrick's tape, indulge in is nostalgia, and after it comes a new understanding of the years experienced and an understanding of the enduring value of the main motor of conflict activity – youth.

November 16, 1581 - November 16, 2013. Eras of Mercy

Ilya Repin's painting "Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan on November 16, 1581" (another name "Ivan the Terrible kills his Son"), the most famous to us from school textbooks, was banned by Emperor Alexander III in 1885, and thus became the first picture to be censored in the Russian Empire. 130 years later, already in modern Russia, a group of historians and activists appealed to the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation with a request to remove the canvas from the Tretyakov Gallery. Is there a causal relationship between the past and the present?

Numbered

In the late fifties, a strange patient was being treated in one of the Moscow hospitals. Doctors could not diagnose him in any way, and meanwhile he was getting worse and worse. But the unusual patient had no right to tell what happened to him. Mahmud Rafikov was not an employee of the special services or a classified scientist. He was a cinematographer, but his name was not indicated in the credits, his films were numbered, not named, and he himself was under a non-disclosure agreement for fifty years. He was the only one who participated in the filming when Yuri Gagarin landed, he was filming nuclear explosions at close range, and he was lucky enough to survive after the release of radioactive elements on a submarine. Korolev and Kurchatov admired his skill. At the age of ninety-one, this only eyewitness of the events remembers every little thing.
