Freiheit im Herzen – Lasst es uns eilig haben, menschlich zu sein

Freiheit! – this is the cry that thousands of people are uniting to protest against oppression in Tehran and around the world following the death of the young Iranian woman Jina Mahsa Amini on September 16, 2022. Arrested by Iranian morality police for allegedly wearing an incorrect headscarf, Amini died in custody just three days later, sparking international outrage and solidarity. The protests have reached as far as Germany, where Iranian exiles who escaped the Iranian regime in the 1970s took to the streets side by side with young second-generation German-Iranians such as Jasmin Shakeri, Pegah Ferydoni, Natalie Amiri and Enissa Amani. Together they are fighting for a free future in which Iranian society can also live without fear and in dignity.

Baobab

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Baobab program, we invited several young people to create a documentary portraying their experience in this host community, managed by Pueblos Unidos. Through various workshops, we explored audiovisual language as a tool for expression and memory, and collaboratively developed the documentary's format. Finally, we filmed this short film, in which the participants share their first steps in Spain, their dreams, challenges, and experiences within the Baobab program.

Return to al-Ma’in

Return to al-Ma’in chronicles the multiyear collaboration between Forensic Architecture (FA) and Palestinian historian and Nakba survivor Salman Abu Sitta on the reconstruction of his birthplace, the lost village of Ma’in Abu Sitta (or al-Ma’in). Guided by the work and memories of Abu Sitta, FA-researchers reconstructed al-Ma’in’s occupation by Israeli forces on 14 May 1948, its subsequent demolition, and the settlements constructed on its ruins. The movie looks to the present moment and the connections between Israeli military’s conduct and appropriation of Palestinian land during and after 1948, and today in Gaza. The project looks back at the sophistication and sensitivity with which the Abu Sitta family cultivated their land, and the rich agricultural diversity that was lost when Israeli settlements were subsequently constructed over this landscape.

10 Years of Hate

Bugs, the banning of Pride, incitement against Ukraine — in 2025, Fidesz faces the looming threat of defeat, and Viktor Orbán’s camp has launched a counterattack. Many expect the most brutal campaign the regime has ever conducted. There’s nothing new about the method. Just as this isn’t the first time Orbán’s power has been in danger. Stolen public funds, the internet tax, brokerage scandals, the U.S. entry ban, the so-called "G-Day" — ten years ago, Fidesz’s support plummeted within months, and their system fell into crisis almost immediately after winning the 2014 election. But the arrival of masses fleeing war offered a perfect opportunity to test a new strategy. And the experiment worked: this was the moment when hate became the cornerstone of the Orbán regime.

In the Forest

In the Forest is a documentary essay that explores the deep connections between humans, animals, and the forest. Through fragments of lives that intersect, echo, or contradict one another, the film gradually weaves the portrait of a rich, complex, and sometimes unsettling world where the desire to protect coexists with the drive to exploit. Moving between realism, political engagement, and dreamlike imagery, it reveals a forest that - in the face of multiplying climate upheavals and an accelerating sixth mass extinction - whispers, to those who know how to listen, the urgent need to safeguard the fragile balance between humanity, fauna, and flora.

Out at Six

A young girl from a good home starts dating a slightly older man, and it is not long before she starts falling out of all her other connections and relationships, swallowed up by a closed world that only has two people in it and a few big dogs tied at the front door. Without her partner ever showing violence towards her, she fears that if she leaves him, something terrible will happen. Out at Six tells the story of Livi, the filmmaker, through a timeline divided into eight stages based on research taken from hundreds of cases in which women were murdered by their partners. The film is compiled from interviews with people closest to her, reflecting how the surrounding environment witnesses the reality of such relationships.

Portuali is a film that tells the story of work and the union world from the inside, as well as the various forms of activism, laying the groundwork for a new narrative of class struggle.
