Semillas de utopía

This documentary focuses on a story that is at the same time all stories: that of Eva, daughter of Juan Carlos Arroyo, one of the 30,000 disappeared detainees of the last dictatorship. Eva is one of the strongest activists in the H.I.J.O.S. organization, and through her and her sister's and mother's stories, the film addresses human rights, clandestinity, uprooting, and exile. The film recovers the dreams of a generation, which resurface in the activism of their sons and daughters, central participants in the demands for memory, truth, and justice—demands that articulate with new social struggles.

E Trema Ancora, the Other Voice of Luchino Visconti

What remains of the Island of Ischia and the Villa? What remains of these landscapes in which Luchino Visconti, icon of the cinema, lived and dreamed so often?
He declared, probably referring mischievously to the Italy of his time, that "you should never stop building your house... "
What remains of his loved ones, of those who like him resisted fascism and its potential and threatening return? The film will explore this legendary place, through the emptiness of the villa and its abandoned, decrepit but still present walls, reminiscent of the effervescence of the ideas and projects developed in that place.
By returning to the island of Ischia, by finding the house as it is today, by reviving it as it was during the time of Visconti, thanks to images of the present, archival documents, and by making links with the aestheticism of his films, we will discover the filmmaker in a singular way.

I'm in Love with my Car

Cars affect our primary senses on all levels, they define our world and change our contemporary society. Our tastes have changed: drive-in food, that was once at most a monthly family treat has now become an essential daily ritual in our fast-paced, consumer society. We barely notice the smell of exhaust fumes but more and more people are getting sick from atmospheric pollution. Our cities are now designed in function of cars, changing what we see and our perception of the world we live in. The film seeks to question the car myth, something that is deeply rooted in our consumer society. A group of primary school's kids guide the spectators in a journey into our imaginary. Using automotive archives and through the involvement in a dynamic way of scientists, engineers, anthropologist and racing drivers, the film explores how the car has changed not only the cities we live in but also our lives.

Una vita altrove

A lumberjack by trade, Lorenzo has spent his entire life abroad, first in France and then in Switzerland. His body bent in two from years of hard work, Lorenzo carries his seventy-three years with ease atop forty-meter-tall fir trees. His work, in the endless expanse of beech and fir forests of Risoux, is both scientific and passionate. He lives alone, as his wife is in a clinic in Lausanne and a son was injured in the woods. Yet he hasn't lost his smile, he loves nature, and he approaches his relationships with other emigrants with irony and generosity. With them in the forest, Lorenzo prepares the charcoal kiln to transform beech branches into charcoal using the ancient ritual that unfolds over days and nights.

My Boyfriend the Fascist

In a beautiful Alpine setting, this is the true story of Matthias, a left-wing filmmaker, and Sadiel, a Cuban activist. Sadiel is unhappy with communist Cuba and these frustrations lead him to embrace right-wing ideas, while Matthias stays true to his beliefs. Their relationship mirrors bigger political issues, challenging their political views and ideas of a “successful” queer relationship. Matthias Lintner films this intimate portrayal, through which both embark on a transformative journey, realizing the true nature of change.

Nor(male) #4 (ep.26-35)

Testimonies of young women, the jealousy of their boyfriends, the indifference of their fathers, the intransigence of the stereotypes that pass through them. 10 episodes of an experimental web-series on sexism and gender violence, born immediately after the rape in Palermo in July 2023 in an attempt to build a counter-narrative that demystifies the macho and misogynistic mythologies of the media and the collectives, against the backdrop of anthropological considerations on “men who hate women”. Disturbing, percussive and pounding like all the works by canecapovolto, a place in which to penetrate the problem and extract its roots for a greater understanding of things. The series is copyright-free, it can be freely reshared by anyone.
