What gives Orthodoxy? A simple hard worker - driver Sergey - goes home. On the way, his car breaks down, and he finds himself in the center of the Orthodox procession. Sergey is deeply struck by the religious asceticism of those who carry spiritual bonds in their minds in the name of the revival of the sovereign greatness of Russia.

Alcoholism and its Ill-Effects was considered to be one of the most popular science propaganda (or educational) films produced in Russia before the revolution of 1917. Alexander Khanzhonkov, the most prominent Russian film producer of that era, financed a special department dedicated to non-fictional cinema, despite the fact that such films were not commercially successful. Unfortunately, not a single copy of the film has survived to the present day. All that remains are 12 frames, which were used by Izvolov to create this reconstruction. He also used extracts from critical reviews, published at the time of the film’s release, to produce a soundtrack.

Vaults is an art production center, a Collaboration is an annual program that offers artists to become residents of workshops for a while. The fact that in 1937 a GULAG camp was opened in Kargopol also played a role. More than 12,000 prisoners felled the forest here and mined peat. The film gives both sides a chance to speak.

Even the absence of events, just hanging out in the creative space, can also be classed as some kind of «creative procrastination» or critical of the world of doing nothing. Modern art — performance, installation, video, becomes part of fashionable leisure time, part of a lifestyle. A kind of «psychedelic» pastime, in which the boundaries between everyday reality and artistic gesture are blurred, becomes commonplace.

The film is a road-movie-like investigation opposing an original folk story, concerning local events during the Second World War, to an official communist propaganda myth-like presentation of the same episodes of history, that remained in state ordered books, films and memorial museums. Through the confrontation of facts, the film reveals the fact a legendary local guerrilla-girl was most likely a witch, whose power was probably used by soviet authorities to put a spell on the “Reichsfürer”, Adolph Hitler, during his secret visit to the Seliger region, where his grand-mother had her roots.

After all, for two centuries the “White Tower” and “Black Tower” lighthouses were symbols of salvation for sailors. However, the island's dark past (Russia's first concentration camp, 1918–1919) and the modern emphasis on tragedy overshadow the bright history of the lighthouses and their keepers. Olga is sure: the museum will harmonize the memory of Mudyuga and show children that darkness can be overcome with light. Despite the bureaucracy, the disbelief of those around her and the status of lighthouses as objects of the Ministry of Defense, she studies, looks for exhibits and like-minded people...
