The Nest

When her mother decides to sell their house, decolonial writer Julietta Singh returns to her childhood home on the Assiniboine River to say goodbye. As Singh listens to the stories embedded in its walls, the house reveals 140 years of overlooked histories—Japanese, Deaf, Métis, Indigenous, and Irish women whose lives, like Singh’s, were shaped by resistance and care. In this genre-defying, cross-community film, the home becomes more than a personal archive, transforming into a site of radical feminist possibility.

Underneath the Sequence, Rage: a History of Drag

The art of drag represents an artistic transformation where individuals create characters by amplifying gendered traits, challenging established social norms. This practice, known for its spectacular performances, has evolved through periods of repression and acceptance. Through humor and self-mockery, drag disrupts conventions and is deeply rooted in the history of LGBT+ movements. This documentary traces the history of Drag in France and around the world, from William Dorsey Swann—a young emancipated slave considered the first drag queen—to RuPaul, Nicky Doll, and Paloma. Featuring contributions from historians, anthropologists, and sociologists specialized in drag, as well as testimonies from drag artists who are shaping or have shaped this history.

Anything for Ratings: Decades of Lowbrow

This documentary takes a deep dive into the history of Brazilian broadcast television, focusing on the decades when the pursuit of the number one spot in the ratings pushed every ethical boundary. Through a detailed analysis and interviews with people who experienced it behind the scenes, whether as viewers or industry insiders, the film brings back the era of live variety shows, hidden camera pranks, the rivalry between Gugu and Faustão, and the PCC scandal. More than just a nostalgic look back, the film questions how sensationalism and the exploitation of poverty shaped the behavior of a nation raised in front of the screen, revealing the secrets of a TV industry that wasn’t afraid to get bizarre to hold onto its audience.

High Lonesome Plains: A Hayden Pedigo Documentary

High Lonesome Plains is about Hayden Pedigo - a musician, performance artist, politician and model from Amarillo, Texas. Homeschooled from an early age, Hayden found community and inspiration in avant-garde music and art online as a teenager. Influenced by figures like performance artist Chris Burden, guitarist John Fahey, and director Harmony Korine, Hayden’s persona often blurs the lines between reality and performance. In his directorial debut, photographer Bob Foster channels his fascination with Americana, people and place, combining Bruna Manfredi’s sensitive editing with an atmospheric soundtrack of Hayden's music to capture a journey of artistry and identity, shaped by the landscapes of the Texas Panhandle.
