Bus Cuts

Rhode Island slashed its public transportation budget in September, leaving bus riders struggling as they attempt to get to work, school, doctor appointments, and visit their children. Community members already struggling to make ends meet have been forced to wake before dawn just to make it to work. Others are now spending money they don’t have on private rides. Still more are standing for over an hour on crowded buses, worried about sickness and tired from the rest of their commute. As the freezing temperatures approach, concerns are rising. RIPTA advocates will present their case to lawmakers in January and until then, these bus riders have been left out to dry on the unforgiving streets of Rhode Island.

Radio Gwen

Radio Gwendalyn is facing a crucial challenge: professionalization. It is the first community radio station in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland to obtain the status of a complementary non-profit radio station. Through this story, the documentary explores the broader context in which the station operates: a network of often invisible yet deeply interconnected realities. It is also a journey into the lives of the people who keep the radio alive, their stories, daily challenges, and the motivations that drive them forward. The film follows the Radio Gwen community through a year of transformation: from the complete renovation of the studios in Chiasso to a new internal organization and the launch of a renewed programming schedule. This recognition defines the station’s mission: to fill the gaps left by commercial and public broadcasters, offering an authentic service rooted in the local community.

La Luz por Primera Vez

Natalia Pinilla, photographer and activist, embarks on a journey across Santander, Norte de Santander, and Madrid, Spain, to uncover the work of Amalia Ramírez, a forgotten woman who, at the beginning of the 20th century, captured one of the most impactful images in Colombian history: the pyramid of skulls at Palonegro, a brutal symbol of the Thousand Days' War. More than a century later, this photograph resurfaces, establishing Amalia as the country's first female photographer. Along the way, she discovers previously unseen archives, connects with descendants unaware of her legacy, and finds a contemporary echo of her struggle in other women photographers. Through historical revelations and intimate encounters, the documentary reconstructs not only Amalia's work but also the memory of a country scarred by violence. The rediscovery of her photographs—portraits, everyday scenes, and forgotten visual testimonies—transforms her into a symbol of resistance, art, and memory.

The Last Responders

On 23 March 2025 in Tel al-Sultan, Gaza, Israeli forces massacred fifteen Palestinian aid workers travelling in clearly marked humanitarian vehicles, later burying their bodies and vehicles in a shallow mass grave. Earshot and Forensic Architecture worked with the Palestine Red Crescent Society and survivors of the massacre to reconstruct the incident with unprecedented precision. The Last Responders is an investigative documentary about this massacre. Anchored in the situated testimonies of two survivors, the film draws on firsthand video and voice recordings captured during the night of the attack by the Palestine Red Crescent Society. Through these materials, the film probes acts of execution and concealment, while reconstructing a fuller account of what unfolded in Tel al-Sultan in the hours and days that followed.
