Global Dimming

This may be the one of the most important Horizon films of recent years. Climate scientists have just discovered a phenomenon that threatens to disrupt our world. It may already have contributed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands through drought and famine. Unchecked, it will strike again. The good news is that there is a cure. The bad news is that the cure may be worse than the disease. If they are right, then in tackling the one problem, we may unleash a climate catastrophe on our planet. This is a film about stark choices and about the dawning realisation that all our predictions about the world's climate may be completely wrong. At its heart is something that scientists are calling "global dimming".

Wheedle's Groove

During the late 60s and early 70s, and decades before Nirvana, Microsoft and Starbucks put Seattle on the map, Seattle's African American neighborhood known as the Central District was buzzing. The soul sounds filled local airwaves and packed clubs seven nights a week. As many of the bands began breaking out nationally via major record deals, television appearances, and gigs with the likes of Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder, the public demanded disco and the scene slipped into obscurity. Narrated by Seattle's own Sir Mix-A-Lot.

Cómicos

“Cómicos” is a sentimental road movie in which we have accompanied the veteran Benavente Company on their tour of Spain. It is the last touring repertory theatre company left in Spain, whose patriarchs, Luis and Aurora, are approaching 80 years old. At the same time, on this emotional journey, we are introduced to the supporting actors, such as Manuel Andrés oandAmparo Pacheco - also octogenarians - who live their profession with dignity and unwavering enthusiasm. In “Cómicos” the names of our protagonists do not appear on illuminated signs but they shine with their own light in a film that talks about passion, the passage of time and the thin line that separates triumph and failure.

Yuri Andropov

Andrey Konchalovsky's project "the Burden of power" is about unpopular decisions of heads of state and political figures in power. The heroes of the cycle "Burden of power" can not be called fighters for liberal ideas, but they paradoxically had a huge impact on the fate and development of their countries. "I am very interested in documentaries. It has a different function than the artistic one. I can Express my thoughts directly here. In documentaries, I speak in the first person, and I am responsible for my words. I am seriously concerned with the relationship between power and culture. The "Burden of power"series is about people who are most often perceived from the point of view of cliches ("Secretary of the Central Committee"," dictator"), and little thought is given to what role they played in the life of the nation."
