New World

Over the past two years, humanity has faced an absolutely new degree of loneliness and fear – a pandemic. Disunity or, conversely, too close contact for a long time, emotional burnout led society to collective trauma. "New World" is the story of 12 families from Moscow, Paris, St. Petersburg, New York, Kiev, Simferopol, Herat, Miami and Dublin. The characters of the film are learning to live in new conditions. We follow their transformation with the help of their own video diaries and special shooting, recording the most intimate and important events that they have lived over the past two years. For all of them, the pandemic is becoming a test of strength. Against the background of a new reality and a new world, we remember the pandemic almost with nostalgia, still feeling its consequences.

Essay: Doomed to Run

Deeply personal cinematic journey between two worlds—Catholic Venice and Islamic Dagestan. Inspired by Joseph Brodsky’s essay *Watermark* and Merab Mamardashvili’s lectures on those “doomed to run,” I craft a film-essay about identity, the ache of existing between cultures, and the endless search for home. Through fragments of daily life and raw, intimate phone calls with my mother, I try to make sense of living on the border—between faiths, eras, wars, and pandemics.

Borderland

Soldiers and commanders of the Anvar Special Forces Unit are advancing at the Kursk front. Together with their comrades-in-arms they are pushing the enemy back to Russia's borders. The unit’s commanders with the call signs Beret and Balu carry out their assigned missions with equanimity, despite the fact that at one point this conflict became a personal matter for them. And there is not a shadow of doubt that a Russian warrior neither seeks revenge nor loots. He saves people, his country, and normal life itself.

Now they are busy developing a closed biosphere based on microalgae to support long-range space flights. It's not quite working out yet, but the road will be mastered by the walking one.

Gosha Rubchinsky 18 A/W

The Moscow-based fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy has spent a year showcasing his collections across Russia, incorporating elements of Russian avant-garde. He started in Kaliningrad with a collaboration with Adidas, moved to St. Petersburg to launch a partnership with Burberry, and recently presented in Yekaterinburg, referencing Boris Yeltsin and Russia's 2018 World Cup. His latest collection, featuring backgrounds by artist Erik Bulatov, emphasized youth unity and anti-establishment themes. The event, held at the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Center, was more of an art performance than a conventional fashion show. Collaborations with Levi's and Dr. Martens symbolized togetherness and defiance against political divides, resonating with the young generation globally.

"The White Guard": Birth of a Novel

The White Guard is the first novel by Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov. It describes the events of the Civil War in Ukraine in 1918-1919. The work was conceived by the author as a large-scale trilogy about the civil war, but the author wrote only the first part of it. Confirmation that Bulgakov worked on the second and third parts of the novel are the stories "The Raid", "On the Night of the Third Number", "I Killed" and others. The film is dedicated to the centenary of the writing of the novel "The White Guard", to the centenary of the civil war in Russia. This is an attempt to analyze the scale of the historical tragedy through the prism of the views of a great artist.
