Man Who Put Idea In

The film is about the life and philosophy of the hero of the film Kamenskikh Igor Kuzmich, who lives in the village of Pavlovsk, Perm region, founded by the Stroganovs. In the appearance of Kuzmich, the image of Diogenes is recognized. A ramshackle leaning hut with broken windows, a never-heated stove, an old cousin on the next bed. And here, in the house, there is a goat and two horses, which in fact are both a symbol of Kuzmich's life and his stove. The transmigration of souls and the new coming of Christ to Earth, unity with Nature and God - this is his Faith. "When all borders between countries and people are erased," he says at the end of the film, "then the kingdom of God will come."

Papa Srapa

Papa Srapa is the main shaman of the Russian avant-garde sound. Noise musician known for his insane, mind-blowing noise performances. An artist and inventor who creates completely unpredictable synthesizers, each of which is a unique object of art. Surprisingly, it is the USSR that is the birthplace of industrial music. Back in the 1920s, Dziga Vertov recorded musical compositions from the sounds of a sawmill, and Arseny Avraamov created a symphony entirely consisting of the sounds of the city: factory whistles, whistling steam and the sounds of aircraft. With this film, we want to introduce to the world a modern representative of a century-old underground tradition who has dedicated his life to noise, performance and synthesis.

Not My Story

Five of the six heroes of the film came to Kazan from different parts of the earth to go beyond their fear and for the first time openly declare their HIV status by running a marathon in a special uniform. For Deanna, who flew in from Australia with her 70-year-old mother, talking about her diagnosis is a daily job throughout her life. She is an example for the American Sean, who prepared for the "coming out" long and carefully. Seam is sure that his parents in an Indonesian village will hardly ever know about his participation in the Open Faces team in distant Kazan. Zhandos, a young doctor from Kazakhstan, only worries about how the news will affect his mother.

Oriental Elegy

A surreal journey of a displaced spirit as he wanders in the interminable darkness through the temporal landscape of a quaint and isolated feudal-era fishing village. Guided by a series of faintly illuminated rooms, the wandering spirit comes upon ancient souls who take on physical forms as they recount their personal stories of daily existence, loss, and tragedy in the peasant community. Intrigued by his initial visit to a curiously distracted elderly woman, the spirit returns to her home in order to ask a fundamental question - "What is happiness?" - an existential query that is innocently answered with innate humility and accepted unknowingness.

Batek

Gena Chudnevich was born in prison. He returned there as a teenager from the orphanage. His fate would have been typical for such cases: “Stole, drank, went to jail...”, but in the penal colony he suddenly began to build a church. And a miracle happened: a semi-literate guy, who did not even graduate from school, almost single-handedly built a huge wooden church according to all the canons of ancient Russian architecture! That’s how the former convict became hieromonk Gerontius. Having led a team of the similar poor fellows, he began to restore ancient monasteries - monuments of architecture. But when a misfortune happened to Father Gerontius, the official church cruelly “thanked” him for his talent and selfless devotion.

The Age of Nabokov

Leonid Parfenov's program “Nabokov's Century” is dedicated to the centenary of the great Russian and American classic. These are, first of all, the stories of people who knew the writer closely: Elena Vladimirovna Nabokova-Sikorskaya - “the favorite sister of the favorite brother”, as Vladimir Vladimirovich called her, and Nabokov's son Dmitry Vladimirovich. Nabokov, who became a genius of two languages and two literatures, is an exceptional case. The film crew visited America, where Nabokov, an American professor of Russian literature, taught at Cornell University for a long time. The viewer will also see the St. Petersburg mansion and the house in Rozhdestvensko estate, where the happy childhood of the future writer took place, his apartment in the hotel in the Swiss town of Montreux, where Nabokov lived the last sixteen years of his life.

Anna Akhmatova and Artur Lurie. Word and Music

Soviet Friendsbook

A friendsbook was like Facebook during the Soviet times. Many had one. Russian kids called it a Form. Classmates were asked to write in it and say what they thought love is, what they wanted to be when they grow up, what their favourite food was. It was mostly girls who had friendsbooks, of course. Twenty-five years later, Alyona Surzhikova browses her 6th grade friendsbook and decides to go and find her then classmates to ask whether their dreams have come true. She travels to Russia and Germany and even Cambodia and puts together a thought-provoking aggregate portrait of the Russian generation that grew up during the restoration of Estonia’s independence. Many of them have left Estonia by now, with half of Surzhikova’s classmates living abroad. Why did they do that? What do they think about Estonia? And what would they write into the Form now?

wrathslaughter

Although set in the southern Netherlands and Belgium, the story draws from murders that began in Moscow Oblast, Russia, in 2014. Fedorov, a young man of Russian descent orphaned and raised by his uncle, graduated from a technical university near The Hague but, afflicted by worsening somatic symptoms, failed to secure work. Returning to Russia under sanctions seemed impossible. He wandered the streets, smoking cannabis and throwing stones at drunks. Within this self-made prison he met Helena, a Flemish girl, on an online forum. She lured him into smuggling soap and chemicals to the black market in Liège. The next month he met Helena and two female accomplices at Liège-Guillemins Station. Yet at their suburban hideout—an abandoned factory—he was forced into his first murder and dismemberment. Only then did he realise he had entered their abyss of crime, irrevocably damned. Where will their fates turn in the next manipulative, large-scale ensemble sequence?
