Trilogy - the Thought, the Look, the Word

Three small films for as many reflections on the senses and human knowledge. In the first episode, Emmer reviews with anthological and didactic intent the precepts of ancient philosophy, from Greek to Roman civilization; in the second, working as he did at the beginning of his career on a vast repertoire of pictorial and non-pictorial images, he analyzes the “history of the gaze” in the visual arts, from prehistoric graffiti to medieval altarpieces, from Impressionist and Cubist paintings to modern-day advertising posters; finally, in the third, recounting with irony and lightness a day of solitude in his mountain home, he reflects on the intellectual thinking of writers and great thinkers, relating to his own individual experience as much the words of oral tradition and popular culture as the writings of geniuses such as Shakespeare, Spinoza or Gogol.

Return To Silence

Heinz Mariacher got closer to the mountains by climbing the most important peaks of the Dolomites. He then devoted himself to free climbing, before returning to classic mountaineering. On this route, he reunited with his partner Luisa Iovane. Immersing yourself in the images of the most beautiful walls of the Dolomites, you can follow the different thoughts that accompany the two climbers, different from each other, but united in life and in the rock by the same thought: "When you reach the summit, keep climbing."

Luce mia

It was the spring of 2010 when I discovered that I was ill with leukemia. I was 29 years old and had never been in a hospital before. The fear, the chemotherapy, the waiting. After six months, everything seemed to be getting better, and a year and a half later, my first daughter, Nora, was born. So, three years later, I decided to return to the ward where everything had begun, to try to make sense of what had happened to me. Inside those rooms, I met Sabrina, who was going through what I had experienced. "Leucemia" is the story of our meeting, our journey together, and our shared experiences. It is the story of our friendship and our leukemia. (The author)

Giusto Gervasutti - Il Solitario Signore delle Pareti

Giusto Gervasutti (1909-1946) was an Italian mountaineer, considered by many to be the best mountaineer of his generation and one of the greatest of the post-war era. He achieved his first feats in 1930 and revolutionized mountaineering in the Western Alps by repeating and opening routes of extreme difficulty that are still considered absolute routes today: the east face of the Grandes Jorasses (with his friend Boccalatte), the northeast spur of the Aiguille Noire de Peuterey, the north face of the Grandes Jorasses, the Gervasutti route on the Gugliermina, the east face of Mont Blanc du Tacul (where he died in 1946), among an incredible list of climbs. The film, made to mark the centenary of Giusto Gervasutti's birth, portrays a solitary and tormented mountaineer, endowed with an impeccable moral sense, an advocate of light and ethical mountaineering, always in search of an unattainable happiness.

Scouting in Palestine

In 1963, accompanied by a newsreel photographer and a Catholic priest, Piero Paolo Pasolini traveled to Palestine to investigate the possibility of filming his biblical epic The Gospel According to Matthew in its approximate historical locations. Edited by The Gospel‘s producer for potential funders and distributors, Seeking Locations in Palestine features semi-improvised commentary from Pasolini as its only soundtrack. As we travel from village to village, we listen to Pasolini’s idiosyncratic musings on the teachings of Christ and witness his increasing disappointment with the people and landscapes he sees before him. Israel, he laments, is much too modern. The Palestinians, much too wretched; it would be impossible to believe the teachings of Jesus had reached these faces. The Gospel According to Matthew was ultimately filmed in Southern Italy. Mel Gibson would use some of the same locations forty years later for The Passion of the Christ.

Poeti

Biagio and Salvatore meet one morning by chance at the non-Catholic cemetery in Rome, where they have gone to visit Gregory Corso’s grave. They thus find themselves discussing poetry, modern times that have annulled the word, the nostalgia of “living in verse” and ask themselves if what happened in 1979 at Castelporziano will ever happen again, when authors from all over the world gathered in a great Woodstock of Poetry. Following the two poets on buses and subways, glimpses of walks and trips by car, all form an unusual description of Rome, a journey following the melancholy of the past and the uncertainty of the present, a sort of poetic tale.

The Beautiful Summers

The voices, faces and bodies of the students of the Liceo Artistico Mengaroni in Pesaro embody the characters of two novels by Cesare Pavese, La bella estate and Il diavolo in collina. Seventy years later, the "beautiful summers" of Ginia and Guido, Amelia and Poli, Oreste, Pieretto, are staged by contemporary bodies who read Pavese's words and discover the closeness of the themes addressed by the author to their own experience, feeling the emotions that the staging of some episodes of the two works arouses in them.

Troppolitani - Fuori dove?

Path in progress on the intentions of those who think badly. The discomfort of the mind of those who have no discomfort is greater than that of those who make discomfort their natural expression. "Troppolitani Outside Where?" it is a journey through the folds of the human and inhuman mind. A one-way trip that does not allow for escape: you remain trapped in the thought of whoever is in front of you. One is stunned by the astonishment that the deviated mind is able to arouse.

Everyday in Gaza

Filmed in the heart of the Gaza Strip in the spring of 2025 and produced by WeWorld as part of a project funded by the European Union, in collaboration with Save the Children, the film tells everyday stories of resistance and humanity: a barber who continues to welcome his clients amid the rubble, restoring dignity and beauty; Wafa, a woman who dedicates her life to children with disabilities or those who have been orphaned, offering care, education, play, and a sense of normalcy. An intimate narrative that illuminates the strength of the community even in one of the world's most fragile and war-torn contexts, like Gaza, where the population has been under constant attack for two years and under blockade for over 18 years.

5 anni e un'estate

Autumn 2018: Elia, Ester, Ginevra, Ilenia, Loris, and Tiffany begin their school journey at the primary school of Pieve Torina, newly rebuilt on the site of the previous one, which—like much of the town—was destroyed by the earthquake that struck the Marche region in 2016. From learning to read and write to filming videos of their own, the film follows them over the course of five school years, concluding in the summer of 2023, as they prepare to move on to middle school. Amid separations and reunions, online classes and afternoons at the swimming pool, with the rubble still visible and reconstruction ongoing, the children grow up before the camera.
