Africa's Hunters of the Night

The hunters of Africa come out of their hiding places at night. They slept most of the time during the day to avoid the heat. But now their time has come. They are equipped with “super senses” that enable them to find their prey in complete darkness while staying invisible themselves. Lions, leopards and hyenas are the ultimate rulers of the night, but they all have different hunting strategies. Leopards sneak up to their prey like phantoms and attack in the last moment, while lions try to ambush their next meal and take it down as a team. Hyenas are long distance athletes and hunt their victims to exhaustion. All of this would be left in the dark, if not for extremely light sensitive lenses and thermal cameras. Thanks to this modern technique, we are able to get a unique view into the secret world of Africa’s hunters of the night.

Instant Life

The three films you will see are shot-for-shot reproductions of the compilation film Instant Life (1981). Each film in Instant Life (1981) was a remake of an earlier film also called Instant Life (1941). The earlier Instant Life (1941) was a single film, not a compilation. In 2017, we decided to recreate Instant Life (1981). We did not attempt to recreate Instant Life (1941) because that Instant Life is lost. Instant Life (1941) was a silent film presented with live musical accompaniment. After the show, audience members received a printed riddle. Instant Life (1981) is a sound film. The riddle is part of the film. No answer to the riddle exists.

Remembrance

The film by the renowned filmmaking duo Anna Faroqhi and Haim Peretz was created within the framework of the German program «Film ohne Grenzen» (Film without Borders), which supports young individuals from various social backgrounds, including refugees, migrants, and teenagers from disadvantaged families. In 2022, the program's regular instructors, Faroqhi and Peretz, engaged former homeless youths in the making of a film. With the guidance of a social worker, an architect, and a historian, these young people worked on crafting a kind of memorial for the victims of a Nazi concentration camp that was once located in the area of a present-day Brandenburg village.

UAP: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

UAP is the new military term for UFO. The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force is a program within US Naval Intelligence implemented to "standardize collection and reporting" of sightings of unidentified aerial phenomena. Many say the use of "UAP" is an attempt to better hide the program from civilians but with the acknowledgment of recent UFO videos leaked to the public as real, the time has come for the governments of the world to face the hard question of who are these visitors and why are they here?
