Promotional newsreel of Dakar, selected to host the first edition of the World Festival of Black Arts. The report features the history of the city, its architectural and commercial evolution, its air and maritime connections, its natural beauty, hotels and tourist attractions. Organised by Léopold Sédar Senghor on the initiative of the magazine “Présence Africaine” and the African Cultural Society, it was an unprecedented event in the cultural history of the African continent. The first festival was held in Dakar on 1-24 April 1966. Participants included André Malraux, Aimé Césaire, Jean Price-Mars, Duke Ellington, Joséphine Baker, Langston Hughes, Aminata Fall, Robert Hayden and many others. All the arts were represented: literature, music, dance, film and visual arts.

Michael Bentine was embarking on “It’s a Square World” and Dick Lester would go on to direct features with The Beatles, and films in the Superman franchise.

The film presents a harmonious picture of Palestinian civil life in Jerusalem that is disturbed by the Israeli army’s occupation of the city following 1967.

LA CASA DELLE VEDOVE portrays a group of widows who, he thinks, lived in a constant ‘dialogue‘ with death. In the house where they all lived ‘every colour was saturated with that special reddish shade that you see everywhere in Rome, and furthermore the rooms were filled with a stale, musty smell.‘

Tour of the White House with Mrs. John F. Kennedy was a television special featuring the First Lady of the United States, Jacqueline Kennedy on a tour of the recently renovated White House. It was broadcast on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1962, on both CBS and NBC, and broadcast four days later on ABC. The program was the first ever First Lady televised tour of the White House, and has since been considered the first prime-time documentary specifically designed to appeal to a female audience.

In 1967, de Andrade was invited by the Italian company Olivetti to produce a documentary on the new Brazilian capital city of Brasília. Constructed during the latter half of the 1950s and founded in 1960, the city was part of an effort to populate Brazil’s vast interior region and was to be the embodiment of democratic urban planning, free from the class divisions and inequalities that characterize so many metropolises. Unsurprisingly, Brasília, Contradições de uma Cidade Nova (Brasília, Contradictions of a New City, 1968) revealed Brasília to be utopic only for the wealthy, replicating the same social problems present in every Brazilian city. In 1960, Utrecht University took over the Studio for Electronic Music from Philips. In this studio in Utrecht, composers and artists worked on their own compositions. In 1961, Jan Vrijman made a film about Karel Appel, De werkelijkheid van Karel Appel, and Appel himself made a musical composition for this film in the studio in Utrecht. Van der Elsken films and photographs Appel during the composition of his Musique Barbare, as well as recording conversations on tape; the film is in fact a kind of collage of film, photographs and sound. As well as an exceptional record of Karel Appel’s working process, this film is a unique documentation of the studio and therefore a significant piece of Dutch musical history.

Broadcast once a month, Dim Dam Dom was a TV variety show on the second channel of French public television agency ORTF made up of a series of short sequences presented by one–off guest presenters. On the 30th of April 1965, Marguerite Duras interviewed François, a little seven-year old boy. Duras asked him what he thought about the inventions of the future, school, the usefulness of TV, "Belphégor" and talking horses. Francois answered the writer’s cunning questions with humour, candour and poetry.

This early work from Pierre Perrault, made in collaboration with René Bonnière, chronicles summer activities in the Innu communities of Unamenshipu (La Romaine) and Pakuashipi. Shot by noted cinematographer Michel Thomas-d’Hoste, it documents the construction of a traditional canoe, fishing along the Coucouchou River, a procession marking the Christian feast of the Assumption, and the departure of children for residential schools—an event presented here in an uncritical light. Perrault’s narration, delivered by an anonymous male voice, underscores the film’s outsider gaze on its Indigenous subjects. The film is from Au Pays de Neufve-France (1960), a series produced by Crawley Films, an important early Canadian producer of documentary films.

It had already been postponed by the Berlin Action Council in Frankfurt in September after the famous tomato throwing by the women. Now attempts are made once again to develop common criteria for the supra-regional context of the SDS, for an SDS whose organizational structures have been overturned by the revolt itself. Factions emerge, the Frankfurt Women's Council distributes its leaflet "Free the socialist eminences from their bourgeois tails", the wave of lawsuits looms. Joscha Schmierer as Django criticizes the student "shitty milieu that is out to satisfy immediate needs. Christian Semler calls for a strong central office. "Of course, I don't have a central office in mind, like the German Communist Party had a central office before '33". After all, the anti-authoritarians in the North region are attacking.
