Surire

The Surire Salt Flat is located at an altitude of 4300 m in the Chilean High Plateau and is one of the most remote places in the world, keeping the treasure of untouched nature with all its beauty but also holding an allurement: a huge amount of borax, promising the mining industry profits at unknown levels. Surire, metaphorically tells us in an outstanding visual way the story of our planet - about the very important subjects of the disappearance of traditional indigenous culture, untouched nature, the environment, and the clash of new and old.

The Peddler

Meet Daniel Burmeister, the most prolific filmmaker you've never heard of. Armed with a camera, a lamp for night shoots, and enough charm to persuade entire towns to join in on his dreams, this tireless, jolly DIY veteran rolls in his beat up old car from one backwater Argentine town to another, where, in exchange for room and board, he turns out a feature film in 30 days. Adapting one of his ready-made scripts to each town, he temporarily transforms these sleepy villages into bustling back lots and the bored populace into avid performers. Coupling high energy with irresistible salesmanship, Burmeister keeps in constant motion. It took the combined efforts of three filmmakers to keep up with him, and their camera is there to capture his every move, recording his reflections on life, his recollections of his past, and his remarkable ability to solve a host of on-set mishaps.

Univers(o) Pecanins

They represented an entire era in the history of Mexican art. For almost half a century they were the benchmark of Catalan and Mexican art. The Pecanins family lived through the Spanish Civil War and saved the postwar period and the dictatorship. They left a gray country and entered the splendid Mexico of the fifties. Another world. They integrated quickly, without losing their roots. The Pecanins sisters, Montse, Tere and Anna Maria celebrated each anniversary of the Pecanins Gallery as a miracle.

Between Two Lights: Suárez. First Part

From a screeching lo-fi sound to luminous pop songs; from a split with Juana La Loca to a Le Mans tribute EP; from a cassette tape with a red star in the groundbreaking film Rapado to the lead singer's main role in Silvia Prieto. In sum: from 1989 to 2001, Suárez rode the scene and stages of Argentine indie rock with great freedom, elegance and intelligence. Also during all those years, its members recorded on video many of its intimate moments and public tours. Blanco wisely sticks to organizing and polishing that analogic repertoire without adding anything else, and he lets Suárez dazzling mystery reveals itself slowly amidst jokes, music videos, dodgy video-camera effects, and lots and lots of other answering machines.
