Today, facing a terminal illness, she will travel to her country of birth, Peru and through Europe revisiting all the important places and moments of her life, richly illustrated with clips of her films. Is it a farewell journey in which she lets go of her family, her loved ones and her work? Or is it a celebration of life? Her travelling companion is taxi driver Hussein, a refugee from Iraq with whom Heddy has a tight bond. As they trace Heddy’s family history they find many common themes. Between the scenes, between the voices. Unseen footage of the future sound of Slovakia.

In 2024, during an artistic residency at Periférne Centrá (Dúbravica, Slovakia), Cristian Estrella filmed the folkumentary „Medzi dolinami, medzi vŕški, po stopách budúceho zvuku Slovenska“ while producing the album "The Future Sound of Slovakia Vol.1" by Mira Tus Manos. But every film leaves scenes out. What doesn't fit due to time, rhythm, or because the main story needs to go elsewhere. "Medzi scénami, medzi hlasmi" is exactly those outtakes: already edited material that no one had seen, divided into two parts —SIDE A and SIDE B— where artists from Argentina, England, France, Catalonia, Amsterdam, New Zealand, and Slovakia speak not only about the project but also about their own artistic practices, personal stories, and internal maps.

La extraña elección

While Andrea unfolds a labyrinth on the ground of her new home, Fran verifies that his efforts to recover the wisdom of the elder bear fruit and Flo plants a yew surrounded by friends. They made a strange decision: living in a town. However, they affirm that their posture is something normal. They say that it is the others who take unusual decisions and they are obligated to confront complicated challenges: like staying in a territory when not finding a rental house; like to keep organizing activities when the money the association was waiting for was used to buy designer ashtrays; like not manifestating when the corporations want to do fracking test in their region.

In this sentimental journey, she focus in the dominant patriarchal system, contrasting the cultural differences in the role of women, the social realities that propitiate or diminish family development and the encounter with women who inhabit motherhood in different ways, discovering in the nature of a winding and rhizomatic journey to find her own way.
