Every five seconds a child under the age of ten dies of hunger. Every four minutes a person loses their sight due to a lack of vitamin A. According to the United Nations, 963 million people - almost one in six inhabitants of our planet - are seriously malnourished. At present, the right to food is surely, of all human rights, the one that is violated with the most impunity. Jean Ziegler argues that hunger is caused by human injustice and assures that today the world could produce enough food to feed the world's population. Among the main causes of this disaster, Ziegler points to stock market speculation, which forces cereal prices to rise, and the appearance of biofuels as a new source of energy. Burning food to keep millions of cars on the roads is a crime against humanity. Hunger is no inescapable destiny. A starving child is killed. The current world order of globalized financial capitalism is not only deadly, it is also absurd. Whoever speculates on staple foods kills children.

Tres Mares is a short film that explores the matters of identity, love and cultural heritage from a personal perspective. Raised at Catalonia but coming from Ethiopia, Beruh Pietx Prat thinks about her childhood and the memory lapses leaved by the shortage of information about her biological mother. Together with her sister Eskedar, they create an imaginary figure of their mother, weaving knowledge from their adoptive mother to fill the holes. Using a mixture of Super 8 and digital footage, the movie merges real and imagined worlds through living colors, textures and figures. The heart of the narrative is the exploration of the physical resemblance of the sisters with her biological mother, the only tangible bond that they have left of her. Through this personal trip, the movie stands out the universal emotions of family, memory and identity, totally embracing the complexities of adoption and cultural roots.

The geometry of circles and ellipses is explored using the Roman Colosseum as an example. Using the Pantheon as another practical example, this program explores the concepts of central and intercepted angles, arc segments and chords. The Etude du Cinéma de l’Ecole de Barcelona (a short-lived group that appeared in Spain in the 1960s) offers the opportunity to consider the distrust of the avant-gardes with regard to narrative. The lacunar narration whose principle the School of Barcelona adopts goes against the traditional narrative and its quest for coherence and continuity. She invites the viewer to make the disconcerting experience of unbinding and emptiness. Such an approach involves an ethical posture. The Barcelona School follows in the footsteps of a modernity that intends to move away from an alienating authoritarian discourse and claims to make the spectator a partner in creation.

The life of a seal is pretty unfair. During mating season, the strong ones take ten females each, nine males stay without a partner. This wildlife comedy observes a colony of seals and tells the story of one of them: We follow him through the crude beauty of birth, being fed by his mother, and being pushed away when the next new-born is due. His adolescent fight to define his place in life - and finally his efforts during mating season. Fresh, funny and with entertaining narration, the film switches from the sex life of seals to our own manners of courtship and mating. Isn't our life all about reproducing ourselves? What does us humans divide from mammals when it comes to love, sex and reproduction? Aren't we all seals after all...?

Three studies on Galicia (Carlos Velo, 1935), built from reels rediscovered in 2010 containing previously unseen footage. As Nuria Cubas notes, the film renews the spirit of the Misiones Pedagógicas: where authorship once dissolved into anonymity, here it multiplies through a shared purpose, becoming an act of fidelity to Galician land and to the images themselves — a raw, essential testimony finally recovered.
