Nighthawk: Maison Margiela Artisanal 2024

A film based on an original concept by John Galliano and directed by Sasha Kasiuha. Founded in the proposition that opened the 2024 Artisanal Show in January 2024 – “Would you like to take a walk with me, offline?” – the cinematic experience elucidates and elaborates the haute couture collection for posterity. In a fast-paced culture, it serves as an articulated desire to be present in the moment, and in the memory; values key to Maison Margiela.

Supersized Sharks

Norfolk Island, 800 miles off the coast of Australia, is home to some of the largest tiger sharks in the world. As strange as it sounds, some think this small island in the middle of the South Pacific has become like a drive-thru burger joint for tiger sharks to gorge on meat. For the first time, scientists are diving in to answer why there are so many huge tigers there. Shark biologists Lauren Meyers, Charlie Huveneers and Adam Barnett lure the giants to their boat to investigate and make a surprising discovery.

The Most Brilliant Human Mind - John von Neumann

John von Neumann, one of the most incredible Hungarian-born scientists of all time, was named Man of the Century by the Financial Times in 1999. Among other scientific works, Neumann pioneered game theory and, along with Alan Turing and Claude Shannon, was one of the conceptual inventors of the stored-program digital computer. In late 1943 Neumann began to work on the Manhattan Project at the invitation of J. Robert Oppenheimer, and helped to design the first atomic bomb. This biography showcases the famous mathematician's work and legacy from the perspective of his daughter and colleagues. It is based on artefacts and documents from scientific history collections and on the personal memories of Marina von Neumann Whitman, Neumann's daughter. The film's production team has been filming all around the world, from Budapest to Los Alamos and Princeton, with the participation of several Hungarian and American scientists.

A Fidai Film

In the summer of 1982, the Israeli army invaded Beirut. During this time, it raided the Palestinian Research Center and looted its entire archive. The archive contained historical documents of Palestine, including a collection of still and moving images. Taking this as a premise, 'A Fidai Film' aims to create a counter-narrative to this loss, presenting a form of cinematic sabotage that seeks to reclaim and restore the looted memories of Palestinian history. It’s a poignant exploration of identity, memory, and resistance, told through a unique blend of documentary and experimental filmmaking techniques.

Zurawski v Texas

Due to Texas's abortion laws, which are some of the most restrictive in the country, Amanda Zurawski was refused an emergency procedure during a troubled pregnancy. The collapse of her uterus sent her into life-threatening septic shock, from which she continues to recover. Her tragic story is less rare than you'd think: When Zurawski took the bold step of fighting the laws in court, in a suit led by the attorney Molly Duane, 21 other women, all of whom had suffered devastating health effects from the Texas laws, signed on to support it.
