In no other province have as many cultural buildings been erected in the last two decades as in Lower Austria.The documentary Building for the Arts presents a few outstanding examples of this cultural development.Starting with St. Pölten’s cultural district and the “Art Mile” in Krems, we show how contemporary architecture has uniformly established itself - from the revitalization of historic sites, including monasteries and castles, to the construction of sensational new buildings. The viewer will be led through the broad spectrum of exceptional building culture in Lower Austria, a culture which provides art, theater and music with the plentiful and spectacular stages it deserves.

"Frankfurter Tor" is the name of a huge parking lot for trucks on the A12 Berlin-Frankfurt freeway. For many years, this asphalted spot in the Mark Brandenburg served to pre-regulate border traffic. It is named after the Frankfurter Tor in Berlin. Thousands of trucks passed through this border every day, and over 700,000 drivers got off here every year and waited to continue their journey towards Poland.

The report combines a Saarland politician’s thoughtful speech with idyllic shots of a high-spirited population: at open air swimming pools, playing cards or on camping sites. “Do you know what we commemorate today?” the reporter asks. The answers are deeply irritating.

Jellyfish is a cinematic novel; a meditative approach to talk about notions of gender by translating cognitive knowledge and literary elements into filmic narrative. The film depicts two types of characters: inhabitants of the fictional planet of gender utopian society that are gender fluid, and real characters who find themselves outside of cisnormativity. It offers another way of seeing gender with its possibility to float between different forms without limitations and restrictions.

The story of Ron Jones 'experiment went around the world: Morton Rhue's novel "The Wave", which is based on Jones' experiment, became a bestseller and standard work that has been a must-read for generations in numerous schools around the world.

This conspiracy film questions a basic assumption of AIDS research - it gets the interviewees to say that AIDS is not caused by the HIV virus and is not an infectious disease.

A study of Alexander Kluge that also emulates his technique of seeking and linking. Kluge reads aloud, Kluge recounts, including stories from his childhood and youth, from the bombing of Halberstadt, his home town. “What you don’t understand as a child you will contemplate for the rest of your life.” Kluge does this as the author of films, books, TV programs. He has always had several professions at once. He is a legal advisor, director, author, founder of the television production company DCTP, and person in charge of its culture magazines. But if you think that these are all different jobs, you’re mistaken.

The work of a film editor usually takes place in secret. At the end of their work is a finished film - the result of weeks of concentrated work. In documentary films, the narrative structure is often only found at the editing table. The editor is a co-author who juggles with the existing material and organizes it. It's about rhythm, compositional thinking, the sensitive handling of space and time. In the documentary by Gabriele Voss, who also works as an editor herself, renowned editors, a brain researcher and the author and director Alexander Kluge use selected film examples to report on seeing, hearing and perceiving, on chaos and order, on hidden tricks and astonishing techniques.

In 2022, the Statue of Peace "Nujin" was erected at the University of Kassel, honouring the countless female victims of the Asia-Pacific wars. However, shortly after International Women's Day in 2023, the university administration abruptly removed the statue - without public explanation. Outraged, citizens and students formed the "Save Nujin" initiative.

One has to love this film, if only for the tender re-animation of words we presumed obsolete.
