A Declaration of Love

A man sentenced to death is found innocent and released after 22 years in prison, 19 of them on death row. Now he has to face a new challenge: to survive freedom. Curtis was only 22 when he was sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit and spent 22 years in prison, 19 of them in death row, buried alive below ground in a concrete room with no windows, waiting to be executed, in Oklahoma State Penitentiary. “A Declaration Of Love” by Director Marco Speroni, aims to give voice to a man who is being cruelly persecuted by a perverse legal system, digging into his deepest and most hidden emotions. The film is a visual journey through Curtis’s glance and his sense of displacement towards a world where he doesn’t belong anymore. “A Declaration Of Love” is a singular way of addressing the barbarity of the death penalty and also a chance to explore a crucial question: what does “freedom” mean in a society that refuses a person like Curtis despite all he went through?

Live! War and Death in Spite Of

This is an unthinkable story about mercy. About Elizabeth Glinka and her followers. About the humanitarian mission of the charity organization “Doctor Lisa's Fair Help" in the Donbas. About the readiness to rush to the rescue at any time of the day or night, to any point of the earth. Despite the war, despite the closed borders. This is a movie about the fact that there are no other people's children. That every child's life is priceless. About how important it is to help, protect, protect everyone who needs, here and now.

Unbounded Family

This is the story of a Russian family who in September 2020, after several months of quarantine and online training, sold their only house in Oslo, closed their mortgage and rented a yacht for a year to go on a trip with their three sons (9, 7 and 5 years old). In the middle of their 10-month regatta in Lisbon, they were experiencing a tipping point - to move on or stop. This story is about how to stop being afraid and start living your life, and not the life of your children, how to escape from a pandemic, lockdowns and restrictions. And how to re-learn to enjoy the little things, like water in the shower or the absence of mold on the ceiling.

One Life. The Holocaust

80 years have passed since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. On June 22, the world again froze in a mournful minute of silence. But 2021 marks the 80th anniversary of another historical tragedy - the beginning of the Holocaust in Russia. Everyone knows the places of mass extermination of Jews: Auschwitz, Dachau, Babi Yar, ghettos in Minsk and Warsaw. But there was a Holocaust in Russia. The first mass shooting of Jews took place in the city of Nevel (near Pskov) in September 1941. The film "One Life. The Holocaust" tells not only about the past tragedy and the courage of those who saved Jews, but also about how memory is preserved today. Among the heroes of the film are the creative intelligentsia, famous public figures of Russia, journalists and just ordinary people - witnesses of history…

Blanco y fucsia

I get home late from my underpaid job. I open the fridge and remember that I didn't have the time to cook for today or buy any groceries. It's the end of the month and I can't afford eating out. I lustily scan my flat mates' shelves, but there's nothing I can steal without it being too noticeable. I end up boiling some pasta, pour some pesto sauce on top of it, and take the plate to my room. Filled with posters, pictures, and drawings, my wall becomes a window. I close my eyes, I'm not there anymore -I'm in a different time, somewhe-re not here.

Make a Distinction

A family has lunch under the shade of a C-47 warcraft. An army installation contains the last remnants of an endangered grassland ecology. Young filmmakers hone their skills making a cop show on Chicago streets. Stylized scenes of field botanists, retail clerks, and soldiers in Clarksville, Tennessee and television workers, and police in Chicago, Illinois reveal the unseen forces of imperialism in US daily life. An examination of a television production and quotations from revolutionary and resistance fighters build to a provocation: name the enemy or become it.

Stray Ducks

As part of an experiment on climate change, NASA dropped 90 yellow rubber ducks into holes in Greenland’s glaciers. More than a decade later, scientists are still trying to locate the ducks, which they hoped to find scattered across the globe. Stray Ducks is the surreal and epic tale of these cute yellow toys and their mysterious disappearance. Anonymous, bobbing across the oceans, they observe human behaviour the world over. With a keen sense of irony and absurdist humour, this film takes an artistic as well as a critical perspective on social injustice and the climate crisis. (Programming Collective)
