The film follows a burnt-out artist who has found an alternative way through life. However, the same cannot be said about the film's director, who is still waging an internal battle about meaning of life.

This combined film melds together not only different techniques but also different thematic topics. The titular mythical figure is just one of the actors in this dreamworld speaking to a contemporary audience in codes of media and narratives that are dear to it. Like a vision or nightmare trapped in the loop of a computer prism.

The Sidi Bouzid beach near the Moroccan port city of El Jadida is famed for its crystal-clear sear and extraordinary biodiversity. There are dozens of species of algae. However, some of them are used by pharmaceutic and food companies to produce agar powder. The nearby factories producing canned fish and phosphate fertilizer pollute water and air. This documentary uses performative interventions which erase the distinction between the human and the natural to explore the multilayered relationship of the locals to the ecosystem which is a source of both awe and their livelihood.

Brothers from the lower east side play hooky, for the last time. The film was created from a film started, but abandoned after a fire gutted the 5 story tenement building that housed the actors on the 2nd floor and the film studio of the fifth. The week before there was a murder of a tenant on the 4th floor. There was a sort of turf war between the hells angels who lived across the street and the film over an empty lot next door. A documentary film, "Making HOOKY" 1997, and book of Photographs, STREET SHOTS HOOKY, explains bette what happened. But in 2021 a beginning and ending was written and edited using other existing footage from the same time and place. Damaged film from the original production was digitally restored, which I never thought would be possible, and an entirely new narrative film created in 2022.

Under the guise of a film competition on the architecture of the city, Yana Osman and Anton Khamchishkin are permitted, if nothing else, to film the battlements of the Kremlin wall. But how to speak of the attack when you have to say “special military operation”? How to create pictures of resistance when filming any protest is forbidden? By pondering swallows and mathematical catastrophe theory, for example.

“I filmed my friends between 1995 and 2000, in France, with a Hi8 camcorder. We were in high school: we smoked firecrackers, we watched movies, we listened to music. We were sixteen, twenty, we were partying”. The director revisits archives of his youth. Once it seemed an accidental documentation of shared life, full of hopes and anticipation of the future. Now these grainy video images contain the whole universe, non-existing anymore. It is inhabited by shadows, including the passed away friend. Eternity is found in cinema, in which time is regained, according to Léo Liotard.

One day, Jean-Christian Riff notices two boys playing a mysterious game under his window. He films them. This is the starting point for a film that, without the camera ever leaving its unique position behind the window, progressively opens up the circle of perceptions and emotions to the dimensions of the world. The space makes this cosmological miracle possible : a bus stop, a riverbank and the river that runs along it, but also the filmmaker’s appartment, where daily life and its sounds resonate : a multiple scene upon which pass time, seasons, beings of all ages and conditions. This film is its author’s last, as he died just after having finished the editing. It is life itself, made poetry. (Cyril Neyrat)

Muslim women are disconcerting, intriguing, polarizing-and straitjacketed by conflations of ideas in front-page stories. While the media tend to portray them as submissive and silenced, filmmaker Saïda Ouchaou-Ozarowski has chosen to distance herself from that caricature, with which she does not identify. She sat down with six Muslim Canadian women eager to talk about what shapes their identities. The resulting documentary, In Full Voice, offers an intimate perspective on the journey of these women, who have a common desire to share their visions of Islam.
