When the Dust Settles

A new participatory documentary follows the lives of refugee families from Sudan and Ethiopia after reunion in the UK. Four families share the challenges of navigating everyday life hurdles as refugees, showing how complex memories and fears are mixed with new hopes and future plans for themselves and their children. Participant families chose to share these experiences in juxtaposition with everyday life activities like cooking, eating, or going to the park, revealing the humanity of their lives and raising awareness of the importance of living together in safety. The film offers a counter narrative to the current political focus on reinforcing border control and is a result of a research project conducted by the School of International Development at the University of East Anglia, in partnership with Together Now, and funded by the British Academy and the UEA ADR Impact Fund (Higher Education Research Funding).

23.4 Degrees

Journey with professional skier Anna Segal across the valleys, forests, boulder fields, and mountain summits of British Columbia as she questions her affinity with seasonal change and its role in connecting our modern lifestyle to the natural world. The ephemeral seasons that punctuate our year come from the Earth’s elliptical orbit around the sun and the tilt of its axis, which is 23.4 degrees. This poetically phrased short film explores the transformation of mountain landscapes and how humans are internally and externally affected by these changes.

Ken Jacobs - from Orchard Street to the Museum of Modern Art

One of the most extraordinary personalities in the history of moving images, native New Yorker Ken Jacobs, and his wife and long-time creative partner Flo Jacobs, sit down for a series of discussions, reflecting on numerous clips from the many films and performances conjured onto screens since 1955 and through to today. From the antic collaborations with Jack Smith and company as a central artist in the 1960s underground film movement, through later, seminal, ground-breaking formalist works which expanded his recognition by The Museum of Modern Art and other major cultural institutions, to his invention of the Nervous System and the Cyclopean 3D patented Eternalism and remarkable musical collaborations (with JG Thirlwell, Aki Onda, Nisi Jacobs, Michael Schumacher and others) of his recent work, Jacobs demonstrates and articulates his endless fascination and pursuit of exceptional, moving image art.

Virtue of !mperfection

The concept of imperfection-to look at it from a certain distance for it to make meaningful sense and that it is a part of something much greater. A film on the borderline of experimental, social documentary that comments on life ,people, sky ,clouds ,reflection and few other components that are suitable metaphors of imperfection and how every one of those entities are interlinked on a philosophical stand point, for its only purpose is to be conveyed as meaningful translations through the medium of film.
