The Chico Mendes III Settlement is located 7 km from Recife, in the municipalities of São Lourenço da Mata and Paudalho, the margins of BR 408. There are 55 families who live there, arising from the conflicts that occur during the camping period between 2004 and 2008, in areas formerly belonging to Engenho São João. The MST assisted and guided the occupation, as did UFRPE guiding the Agroecological transition. The difficulties are many, from growing Organic products, such as the lack of rain in a punished soil, but these women of fire exemplify the female leaders in the settlement and bravely support the loneliness. With faith and the certainty that their return to earth is not in vain, bearing fruit for sustainable posterity.

In the form of a photo-novel, in which a succession of static images construct a narrative with the support of the voice-over, "Estas Mãos São Minhas" is a love letter of André Miguel Ferreira to his grandmother. The pretext is one of the usual trips of Sundays and Thursdays of the grandmother, with the most elegant clothes and the best perfume, to dance sessions where, in this space of music and conviviality, married men hide their alliances and widowed women search for ghosts. And it is a particular ghost that really matters to the young director, his deceased grandfather, for whom his grandmother cries silently and for whom sometimes he changes his name. This is a film about the loss, the longing, the time, the fear, the love and the immense strength of women.

Amidst the dance of the diggers and trucks discharging their loads onto the slopes of a mountain of rubbish, a herd makes its way through the chaos, in search of something to graze.
