Cure Toujours !

The Cure's "dark and romantic" music left a lasting mark on Jérôme's adolescence and prompted him to become a musician himself. Their countless albums have been the soundtrack of his life. The personality of Robert Smith has rubbed off and strongly influenced that of Jérôme, who now readily asserts himself as one of the last rock icons of the Nantes new-wave era. Fashions follow one another but Jérôme remains faithful to his style and as he himself says to those who reproach him for always dressing as in the 80s and still listening to the same music: “Well yes, but… for follow fashion, you really shouldn't be yourself… ”

Jesus, Aliens! I think

The film tells a very personal story, the story of the director herself. It is a documentary about how she fled to her parents house at the beginning of the coronavirus crisis in spring 2020, where she spent the three months of lockdown in isolation with her parents. Unluckily back then, she was supposed to realize her master thesis, a film, but the pandemic made the realization of her actual concept impossbile. Hence she saw herself forced to radically change her concept and shoot the movie within their home. The result was the attempt to make a science fiction film with her parents in quarantine.

The Scattering of Man

The dam took seven years to complete and resulted in the flooding of a large area to create a massive reservoir. D?NE YI'INJETL | The Scattering of Man is the first documentary feature directed by Luke Gleeson. While You Were Sleeping – The Documentary

"When I first started to photograph in dark and unfamiliar places all over Singapore in 2003, I had no idea that those images I made would come to define me as a photographer. Born out of a curiosity of the unknown, as well as a young photographer’s restlessness, While You Were Sleeping grew to say as much about our country as it did of me. Eighteen years, two books and two exhibitions later, Singapore is now a very different place. Many of the locations I visited in the early 2000s, once alien, are now completely transformed." – Darren Soh, photographer

SADA

Sada, meaning «echo» in Arabic, was conceived as Sada for Iraqi art by the Baghdad-born Rijin Sahakian. Sahakian set up the initiative, which ran from 2011 to 2015, in order to support Baghdad-based artists facing the damage done to the contemporary art infrastructure in Iraq after cycles of war, destruction, sanctions, and continual political insecurity. For «documenta fifteen», Sahakian invited former participants of Sada to produce video work reflecting on their practice and where they are today. The participating artists are Sajjad Abbas, Bassim Al Shaker, Layth Kareem, Ali Eyal, Raed Mutar, Sarah Munaf, and Sahakian herself. This almanac is a valuable historical document about a country destroyed by a bloody war.

Brexit Through the Non-political Glass

On 1 January 2021, the UK's transition period with the EU ended and new rules and regulations were agreed at the last minute. This is a time for reflection on the social phenomenon that is Brexit - which has now become a British trademark world-over, alongside the Royal Family, fish and chips and Sherlock Holmes. Brexit Through The Non-Political Glass puts politicians and public sentiments to one side, and seeks the opinions of non-partisan world-class experts - the scholars and professional advisors who specialize in this very topic; no politicians and propagandists, and no social media and populism; among the experts is Vernon Bogdanor, the Oxford tutor of former British prime minister David Cameron, who was consulted before the referendum was offered to the nation; you will hear what his advice was.
