Rallye Sanremo 1985

After a somewhat disappointing season, West German Walter Rohrl bounced back to give the Audi team a welcome boost to morale with a devastating victory in the San Remo Rally in Italy. It had been thought Timo Salonen would lead the Peugeot team to another win. However, he was eclipsed by a brilliant drive from the former world champion. Nevertheless, Salonen and the Peugeot are established as the champions for 1985. This video graphically illustrates the hazards the drivers had to face, not least being the huge clouds of dust and the almost suicidally reckless spectators who were nearly as dangerous as the notorious crowds in Portugal. The Lancias made a welcome comeback and added colour to an event, which turned out more a test of stamina than predicted. Rohrl can be seen hurling the big Quattro through the mountains sometimes defying the laws of gravity in his urgency to see off the little French turbos. On the gravel or tarmac, San Remo belonged to Rohrl. See how he did it.

A Balinese Trance Seance

Bringing offerings of rice, flowers, and woven coconut leaves, clients visit Jero in her household shrine to determine the cause of their son's death. Jero lights an incense brazier, sprinkles holy water, and recites mantras as preliminaries to trance. Several ancestors and finally the young son speak through her voice, revealing the nature of his premature death (witchcraft) and his wishes for cremation. In contrast to other films about Balinese trance which focus on spectacular, community performances, this film provides an intimate view of a fascinating process of communication between Jero, the spirits, and her clients who are at one point moved to tears. Rallye Sanremo 1987

The Lancia Deltas were expected to win the San Remo Rally, but the question was, which driver? Uncharacteristic weather beset the Italian Riviera and further assisted the four-wheel drive cars, but could Markku Alen win again after the 1986 Peugeot exclusion debacle? Massimo “Miki” Biasion perhaps was the man most likely to upset the hopes of the Finn, and with the Manufacturers’ title already secured by Lancia, there was no particular team orders in operation, or so it seemed. With the patriotic crowds firmly behind the Martini-sponsored Lancia’s the stage was set for a great showdown with Jean Ragnotti in the Renault 11 Turbo and Didier Auriol driving an RED Ford Sierra Cosworth. Britain’s Jimmy McRae used his success in the Tudor Webasto Manx International Rally to land a drive in a second Cosworth, but with five other Lancias in the fray the result was was going to be well-earned by whoever made it to the top step of the podium.

Tour de Corse 1986

The ever-present dangers surrounding the high-speed world of world championship rallying were tragically illustrated during this event when - for the second year in succession - a top-ranked Lancia works driver lost his life in Corsica. This time it was championship star Henri Toivonen, who crashed to his death down a ravine after losing control on a fast early special time stage. Co-driver Sergio Gresto also perished in the flames which engulfed the Italian car. Their untimely deaths shattered the entire world of rallying. The Tour de Corse did however continue, in spite of the withdrawal of the other Lancias as a mark of respect, and this video covers the remainder of the event with footage of the very best of the action. In addition, there is a Tribute to Toivonen in which his brilliant career is reviewed on film, particularly his status as one of the best of the Flying Finns in the Rothmans Opels.

It gives examples of community councils and Neighborhood Friendly Societies in the health sector in Franco da Rocha, transport in Osasco and Santo André, community kitchens in communities and councils of employee representatives in companies such as Metrô and Emplasa, which still carried out training in auxiliary inspection system, with the presence of civil society, in the inspection of water sources and public transport areas.

Hombres de barro

A group of filmmakers travel to a Kolla community in Salta to film their folkways. We see all aspects of their life: farming, herding, cooking, football, and making music during a Pachamama festival. In the course of filming, the leader of the Kolla community changes the filmmakers' view of what the documentary should be, and at the end of their visit they are changed. "La vida se puede ir amasando, como el barro": As life goes along, it becomes more pliant, like clay. An announcement at the beginning of the film states that this is neither fiction nor documentary, but I'd say it's closer to documentary.

Gold

The extraordinary story of the world's largest robbery - the theft of £26 million of gold bars from the Brink's-Mat warehouse in November 1983. Eight men have already been convicted for their part in the story; two others were acquitted at a recent, highly publicised Old Bailey trial. With the help of the man leading the police hunt, Det Chief Supt Boyce , and with insights into the criminal underworld from Andrew Jennings and John McVicar , the film follows the tortuous trail of the gold. Using some dramatic reconstruction, it shows how this massive amount of gold, beyond the robbers' wildest expectations, was smelted in a garden shed, passed over the counter of unsuspicious local banks, and fed into an international 'money laundering' operation, with much of it ending up, thanks to Britain's relaxed exchange controls, in the American drugs market.

MAIS

MAÏS is the portrait of three generations in a family of stockbreeders and graziers. The film shows how the experience of this family, who live in a small village in Aisne, is deeply rooted into the rhythm of the seasons, cattle life and machines. They are destined for farming just like the medieval « villain » was destined to work for his lord. Country life has obviously changed, everybody agrees on that. It has even become a cliché. Mechanization, television, shopping malls and entertainment have left their imprint on the way people live. This film tries to look deeper into that, not so much through the words of the people we meet, but through its viewpoint. A somehow oblique viewpoint, in order to seize what can’t be captured straightforwardly. A viewpoint that strongly draws inspiration from the art of framing.
