The Insane Experiment

From 1960 to 1973, Chief Physician Einar Geert-Jørgensen and a small select team of doctors treated several hundred Danish psychiatric patients with LSD in a basement at Frederiksberg Hospital. A large number of patients suffered serious consequences, and the LSD doctors were accused of subjecting patients to experimentation, coercion and lethal treatments with LSD, but were acquitted of all charges. But now, 60 years later, a secret archive of LSD doctors has emerged, casting doubt on the authorities’ decision in one of the most bizarre drug scandals in Danish history. Journalist Lotte Mathilde Nielsen is the director, and actor Thure Lindhardt has directed the dramatisation, using all his cinematic experience with dramatic reconstructions and star actors like Søren Pilmark and Amalie Dollerup in the roles of the LSD doctors.

A Big Gay Hairy Hit! Where the Bears Are: The Documentary

This hilarious and touching documentary tells the story of how three older, gay, "bears" working in Hollywood, tired of having their gay-themed ideas rejected by the mainstream, decided to self-produce their own web series. Against all odds, the comedy featuring three bear roommates like "The Golden Girls" solving crimes a la "Murder, She Wrote," became a sensation online and one of the most successful web shows of all time. The documentary examines ageism, body-shaming, sex-positivity, the creative process and how friendship and community can ultimately create something beloved all over the world.

Empathy for Concrete Things

Based on their experiences living and working amongst Soviet-era concrete, panel-block apartments, the filmmaker, together with five visual artists, examine past and present attitudes towards their former homes. Combining touching, personal stories with experimental research on the history of twentieth-century art and architecture, the film creates both a compelling narrative, and a contemporary aesthetic of panel-block mass housing using original watercolors, put into motion using digital animation and stop-motion techniques. As global and personal histories interweave, the film explores notions of moral and political responsibility as evinced in physical space.

Serge Lama, la vie à la folie

Serge Lama is the author of huge popular successes for more than 60 years: "Je suis malade", "Femme, femme, femme" or "Les Ballons rouges" have gone through the fashion. In this documentary, Serge Lama reveals himself to Mireille Dumas as he had never done before. The artist comes back on the important moments of his life. He talks about love, about the women he has sung to throughout his career, about his possessive and tyrannical mother, about his father, an operetta singer who became a beer merchant out of necessity, and who he would like to avenge at all costs by shining on the stage of the Olympia. He also tells of the pain of having lost his first love in a terrible accident.

Whore Revolution

Whore Revolution is led by members of the organizations OMESPRO La Paz and OMESPRO Santa Cruz; These become builders of a story that makes use of a symbolic lever to transfer the central discussions of the whore universe to a political and poetic space. The film is structured in four parts with their own entity, which together make up a piece that has the vocation and versatility to invade all types of spaces—except virtual ones. María Galindo turns the camera and questions the viewer: "Without money and without work... I want to see you in my place."

A Minor Crime

With the aid of four actors in a rehearsal room, filmmaker Nur Fibak lays open the police investigation and court proceedings against the man who had molested her, revisiting the case as it unfolded from the moment she decided to seek justice. The film opens a unique window into the workings of the Israeli criminal justice system in sexual offense cases. Behind closed doors, during the cross-examination, everything is permitted, including asking invasive questions, doubting the woman on the witness stand, and forcing her—that same traumatized child, now grown up—to experience a second kind of abuse.

Ozogoche

Cuviví is the Ecuadorean indigenous name for the upland sandpiper, a wading bird that has special significance for the communities living around the Ozogoche lakes in the middle of the Andes. Each year, these birds migrate south from North America. Around September they pass the Ozogoche lakes, where large numbers then “commit suicide,” plunging from great heights into the ice-cold water. A girl lives near the lake. Her uncle lives in the US, and she might be heading there herself. In the meantime, she awaits the arrival of the cuvivís, few of which have appeared in recent years. The lakes are drying up.
