Druids: The Mystery of Celtic Priests

Druids have existed far longer than hitherto assumed, since the 4th century BC. Their traces are found all over middle Europe: from the northern Balkans to Ireland. Their cultural achievements were equal in almost every way to those of the Romans and Greeks: They could read and write and spoke Greek and Latin - for centuries, they were the powerful elite of their culture. Only one single Druid is known by name to history: Diviciacos - an aristocrat of the Aedui and personal friend of Julius Caesar. Diviciacos was a politician, a judge and a diplomat, but he lived at a time when the Celtic lands of Gaul were conquered by the Romans. Greek and Roman contemporaries distrusted the actions of this forbear of the famous comic book druid Getafix: They imagined him in bloody rituals in somber woods.

Another Horizon

The horizon, where the sky and the earth meet, is always elsewhere, a promised place where these two elements come together. a metaphor, an orienting, a promise of transition, change, transcendence. a place where the corporeal and spiritual meet, or are cleaved apart. Also, here, the space between narrative and documentary, fact and fiction, is scratched between two voices. Jayne love reads a text i wrote for her, short sentences on the concept of the horizon and the briefest suggestion of narrative collide with pieces of Richard (Oswan) Williams' beautiful, rum-fueled living room sermons to me.

7th of August

Poland experienced a homophobic tsunami in 2020. LGBT people, whom the ruling party chose to be the enemy, became the target of an intense campaign of power supported by the church and public media officials. The breakthrough came on August 7 - the day the LGBT community said enough, demonstrating on the streets of Warsaw in defense of one of them - activist Margot. On that day, the power of rainbow solidarity clashed with brutal police aggression. There were high-profile, show arrests, as a result of which 48 participants of the protest were arrested. Among them are the protagonists of Michał Bolland's shocking film - Kajetan, Kamila, Krem and Julia and her partner. Their stories make it possible to understand and feel what price the non-heteronormative part of Polish society pays for homophobia and power transphobia. And what was the situation of the LGBT rights movement? Sometimes called the Polish Stonewall, August 7 may go down in history.

quattro

In the late 1970s, when the question of making a four-wheel drive rally car was raised, Audi engineers contacted FIA to consult on homologation issues. At that time, this technology was banned, and no one raised the problem of making such a car. At the time, the FIA saw no problem in authorizing the little whim, leaving the Germans to build their own toy. Following the publication of the 1979 FIA Yearbook, which lifted the ban on all-wheel drive, Audi went ahead with its design for the revolutionary quattro. Lots of people expected the quattro to look like a Jeep. Many laughed but then there was silence. Audi went ahead with its quattro, the car that will change the face of rallying forever. It was the birth of a legend that captured the imagination and brought out fans in their tens of thousands. The future had arrived.
