When a Hen Crows

Dabin, a 27-year-old woman studying films, began calling herself a feminist three years ago. She goes out without makeup, checks hidden cameras when using public restrooms, thinks of domestic violence at the cries of a woman next door, participates in street rallies, and gets hurt by her family’s reaction to the feminist movement. When a Hen Crows is a private essay film exploring the gender identity of a woman in her twenties in Korea using the narration of the director’s diary, referring to herself as a third-person ‘woman.’ Scenes of a family moving show a sense of the home video. Rather than making a clear voice toward the world, the self-reflection and sincere gaze look into the subtle movements of internal emotions.

The Slow Longing

Sometime around the year 2100, a tired trickster character assuming the form of an anthropomorphised rabbit named Niva moves through an alienating landscape. A post-apocalyptic science fiction scenario, which the London-based artist Sofia Albina Novikoff Unger makes manifest out of both existing places and digital interventions, and which invites the imagination of the viewer to wander with Niva in search of a disappeared friend. On the soundtrack, a voice from the future speaks of lost civilisations that uncannily resemble our own, and about man-made technologies that have turned against their makers.

Porque Todas Las Quiero Cantar: Un Homenaje a la Canción Rochense

The singer and songwriter Florencia Núñez is from Rocha, a coastal department in southeastern Uruguay. Her first compositions took place at her parents' house, in the classes she shared with the composer Enrique Cabrera, or on the shores of the ocean when she spent the summer in Costa Azul, her usual beach town. Today, she lives in Montevideo, she listens to her songs and wonders: what is the origin of all these melodies? This film is her desire to relive that music that made her grow. A tribute to the music of her department through the reinterpretation of five songs that marked her songbook. With that map in mind, Florencia goes out in search of answers in conversations with authors, interpreters or actors from the Rochense scene who were witnesses or protagonists of the construction of the local folk. A journey through the essence of a department that traces a route between melodies and landscapes, poetry and culture, and voices and roots.

Amateur on Plastic

Butch Willis is a Washington, D.C. rock legend. The unique and unusual brand of "outsider music" that Butch Willis & The Rocks created captivated the local music scene beginning with their appearance at the seminal Primitive Night in 1984. AMATEUR ON PLASTIC chronicles Butch's life and career from the beginning all the way through to present day. The film combines archival footage, interviews with Butch, and live performances. Stylistically, the film hovers between amateurish and avant- garde, much like Butch’s own music and career. Amateur on Plastic also parallels the 1990’s era of the seminal indie label Teen-Beat.

The Valley of Tears

The valley of tears is a synonym for the prison in Dob, Slovenia. The film takes us to the event organised as part of the Engage and Activate project (ViA), with a performance by the band Autodafé, interweaving it with personal accounts of three inmates who are part of the project. The first one was convicted of murder, the second one of sexual assault and incest, and the third one of fraud/financial crime. In a symbolic way, songs of the sea complete the idea of the film which perceives the prison as an isolated island detached from everyday life and society.

TRAVIS RICE || RESETTER

Travis Rice typically makes an annual pilgrimage to the mountains of Alaska. There, he finds and rides ridiculous lines and creates films that terrify and/or inspire the rest of us. Last year, COVID broke that tradition. However, fortunately for Travis, there’s plenty of backcountry right in his backyard in Jackson Hole. All of the sudden, he saw an opportunity to reset and reconnect with his old stomping grounds. Epic snow. Incredible terrain. Fresh air and beautiful solitude. Sometimes, Alaska comes to you.

Pablo Escobar. Narco-Atletico

In 1989, Pablo Escobar entered the top ten richest people on the planet according to Forbes magazine. He led the Medellin drug cartel for 20 years and, according to some estimates, during his activity he transferred $ 25 billion worth of cocaine to the United States and other countries. In the 70s, Escobar literally covered the streets of America with cocaine. Demand was phenomenal, profits skyrocketed. At one point, the Medellin cartel controlled up to 80% of the world's cocaine turnover. Approximately 70 tons per month were shipped to the USA alone. At that time, Colombia was covered by a football wave. The national team was one of the best on the continent in the early 90s. But how did it happen that in a country where elementary problems have not been solved, football came out on top? Why is this possible? This is the story of how one of the most famous criminals in the history of mankind gave a boost to Colombian football and changed its face forever.

Dear.Picaresque

When I close my eyes, certain images linger. The house I used to live in is in the background. I follow the shapeless images and visit the places from the past. I imagine my father's house, although I haven't spoken to him for so long I don't even know where he lives now. Imagining his house is like surmising his life. There are times when passing-by images linger on. With my memory of "now", I'd like to bid farewell to a segment of my past. If a film is where you build up memories, I want to shine a light on the memories of countless failures.
