Transparent Hero

The life of General Victoriano Lorenzo, of indigenous descent, guerrilla fighter from the One Thousand Day War, shot by a firing squad of the oligarchy before the birth of Panama as a Republic and the building of the Canal by the North Americans in 1903, is reconstructed through several characters who know his history, life and myth. An indigenous painter, an indigenous chief, a peasant, a violinist, a singer of rhymes and a former guerrilla fighter talk to us about the life of our Transparent Hero, as we delve into their worlds of daily struggle in a country that is proud of its economic growth and gradually seeks to eliminate the memory of its people. These are stories that are weaved to highlight the figure of Victoriano Lorenzo through the imagination that creates time in the self-image of Panamanians amidst memories, versions and contradictions.

Fiori di Strada - We Are Not the Crazy Ones

The film is a reflection on the medieval folk tradition of "benandanti" ("good walkers"), who believed they had special powers to fight witches, ogres and demons threatening harvests and children. Who are the "benandanti" of today and who are the witches and ogres of our times? Can these assigned roles be put into question? The film analyses three stories, trying to recover the sense of truth and the truth of the sense, starting from the relations between individuals and the respect that every statement of the human race deserves.

Le rêve est fini

In a dense interrelation between intimate diary, cinema essay and anthropologic film, this film connects past and present, European policies for the management of migration flows to the history of the last colonialism campaign in Northern Africa, setting its point of view with an urgency that is opposed to any emergency rhetoric. Written words, voices, images are saved from the waters of oblivion, and linked together building a story that is incredibly short and, at the same time, tragically deep.

Algunos recuerdos (no) son míos

At the Ca la Dona Documentation Center, a self-managed bi-lesbo-feminist archive, one of the archivists becomes obsessed with a photograph. Looking at it over and over again, touching it again and again, she creates a bond with it and discovers the mark of a kiss on the face of "Lupita." On the back, written by hand, are two enigmatic words: "I have you." A sensory and emotional journey where memory comes to life through the construction of a personal and political map.

Kosovo, the Last Scar of the Balkans

The disintegration of the Balkans began and ended in Kosovo. The Kosovo War (1999) left the region, which is now under the protection of the United Nation, with lasting scars. The Kosovar Albanians wish to form an independent nation with or without Serbia's consent. Serbia is not willing to shift its borders and lose what it considers to be the "cradle" of the Serbian nation. NOESTAMODEPASO PRODUCTIONS exams the present and the future of this Balkan region that has the highest rates of unemployment and illiteracy in all of Europe. Furthermore, over half of the population is under 20 years of age. Gaps and inconsistencies in the law have turned Kosovo into a chaotic mess with few guaranteed fundamental rights. There is no freedom of movement, houses remain occupied and children are assigned to schools based on their ethnicity. Everybody wants to look towards the future; however, the pain of the past is still very present, making Kosovo the last scar of the Balkans.
