E Trema Ancora, the Other Voice of Luchino Visconti

What remains of the Island of Ischia and the Villa? What remains of these landscapes in which Luchino Visconti, icon of the cinema, lived and dreamed so often?
He declared, probably referring mischievously to the Italy of his time, that "you should never stop building your house... "
What remains of his loved ones, of those who like him resisted fascism and its potential and threatening return? The film will explore this legendary place, through the emptiness of the villa and its abandoned, decrepit but still present walls, reminiscent of the effervescence of the ideas and projects developed in that place.
By returning to the island of Ischia, by finding the house as it is today, by reviving it as it was during the time of Visconti, thanks to images of the present, archival documents, and by making links with the aestheticism of his films, we will discover the filmmaker in a singular way.

Le Feu Sacré, Lumière de la résurrection du Christ

In a small village in eastern France, a Christian man prays in a chapel before the Blessed Sacrament. Meditating on the real presence of Christ, he remembers that in Jerusalem, for centuries, a mysterious flame has appeared every year in Jesus' empty tomb, on Holy Saturday of Orthodox Easter. Considered a manifest sign of the resurrection, this light, which mysteriously materializes in the holy tomb, seems to be a gift from Christ, a sign to the world that he has truly risen and remains present among us.

Under the Southern Cross: The Art and Legacy of Henry L. Faulkner

An unflinching portrayal of Appalachian queer painter and poet Henry L. Faulkner from Egypt, Kentucky (1924–1981). The most documented queer man in the history of Kentucky and possibly the country, Faulkner documented his life and lovers as an adolescent in the 1930s til the day he died. This film tells a raucous, unapologetic, and unfiltered story told with Faulkner’s photographs, paintings, poetry, rare film and audio recordings, and interviews with people who knew him. This film describes a boy and a man unwilling to hide who he is and willing to face the consequences for his authenticity. Faulkner was unashamedly gay at a time when many LGBTQ people lived closeted lives. Self-proclaimed a ‘radical homosexual,’ Henry’s art was a fusion of life experience, an acute sense of color, and his sexuality. His homes became refuges for many young people in Lexington, Kentucky, and Key West Florida, both gay and straight, in search of a freer way of life.

Höcke. Und seine Hintermänner

Enthusiasm resounds at election campaign events with the right-wing extremist German AfD politician Björn Höcke. Some claim that he is his own biggest fan. Former colleagues believe that the chairman of the AfD Thuringia lives in the belief that something great is destined for him. On September 1, 2024, Björn Höcke won the state election in Thuringia for the first time, where he wants to become Prime Minister. Previously, Björn Höcke was twice fined for using a slogan from the Third Reich. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution classifies the AfD Thuringia regional association he leads as proven right-wing extremist. In a book, he made his radical restructuring plans for Germany public. But who is Björn Höcke actually? Where does his attitude, his view of Germany, his worldview come from? Which ideological masterminds are behind the figurehead Höcke? Is he being controlled or is he controlling the AfD? And: What can we expect from him in the future?

Non-Silk Road

Silk Road Mountain Race is one of the most difficult multi-day cycling races, the route of which runs through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan: about two thousand kilometers at temperatures from +40 to -15 and with a total climb of 30 thousand meters. The extreme Silk Road attracts cyclists from all over the world, but not everyone manages to overcome it on full self-sufficiency. In 2023, two guys from Moscow, Maxim Lapchuk and Sasha Antipov, decided to test themselves and go on this journey. One of them had been preparing for it for three years, the other decided in a week, without going into details. In Peter Barabaki's film, they tell how it was, and invite the viewer to speculate with them on the question of how people come to realize a big dream — how much recklessness, heroism and risk there is in this, and in the end is it worth it.

Meat Grinder 2

“Meat Grinder 2” is an attempt, at one hand, to “listen” to the past – and to distance ourselves from the current moment on the other. The title is referred to the eponymous 1928 OBERIU’s film by Klimenti Mints and Aleksandr Razumovsky, which was proclaimed as an anti-war statement by the authors. “Meat Grinder 2” is constructed from the lines of people who witnessed an air raid. Each line reflects a certain auditory experience, and together they are built into a chronicle of one single day, the sequence of events of which is deconstructed in the film.

Menopauses

A documentary about hot flashes, organ descent, bladder weakness, cellulite? Sounds like a horror movie, doesn't it? But what if it's quite the opposite, and instead opens the way to a profound questioning of our identity as women, of what we wish to experience and never experience again? Through the eyes of 12 women, Menopauses explores this time of life through stories told with lucidity and humor, which ultimately raise a broader question: until what age does society really consider us to be women?
