Garabandal, Unstoppable Waterfall

This documentary will take us even further into Garabandal's message of hope and conversion as we marvel at the incredible fruits that have come out of Garabandal ever since the apparitions took place. Garabandal, Uncontainable Cascade has located eyewitnesses of the apparitions of Our Blessed Mother in San Sebastian de Garabandal, Spain and interviewed valuable experts on Marian apparitions in order to delve deeper into both the prophetic dimension of Garabandal as well as the question as to why Garabandal is still awaiting a definitive judgment by Church authorities.

Arho – The Afar Salt Trade of Northeastern Ethiopia

The documentary follows the journey of a camel caravan to the salt plains of the Afar Depression. Traditionally the caravans moved from Afar Depression to other parts of Ethiopia and to the Red Sea coastal regions of modern-day Eritrea and Djibouti. For centuries the control, trade and distribution of salt was of primary importance in the articulation of economic, social, and political life of the nomadic communities living along the caravan trails. Since 2010, trucks have slowly replaced the camel caravans. This has led to a steady decline in the trade. The film, relying on strong visual imagery and traditional Afar music, selected by the participant of this project, documents how the decline of this trade affects the daily life of the communities in Berahle district of North-eastern Ethiopia.

Judy Versus Capitalism

A bio-doc about my pal Judy Rebick: iconic second wave Canadian feminist, radical activist, journalist and writer. She is the founding publisher of rabble.ca, Canada’s irreverent progressive online news source, and a former president of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women, Canada’s largest women’s group. Shot in kinetic bursts of super 8, the only voice is Judy’s, impelling a trek through a devastated family, the struggle for women’s right to choose and the challenge of neo-liberalism. A series of six public moments (marked by speeches and TV spots) structure a life collage that arrives in six movements. A fractured movie for fractured times.

Character One: Susan

Susan is a glamorous train wreck: a delusional drug-addict and psychotic who compares herself to the likes of Maria Callas, Romy Schneider, Monica Bellucci and Désirée Nick. Her childhood ended when she was sexually abused for the first time at the age of 11. Even though she has a strong personality and speaks five languages fluently, she was never able to take care of herself. In the 1990s, she became one of the IT Girls of the post-reunification party scene in Berlin. She only feels safe among gay men. Decades of drug-abuse may have destroyed her brain, but not her personality.

Area by Road

An exploration of a small area by the side of the road, cordoned off and littered with refuse. The roving camera intimately examines the disregarded plastics and thriving weeds that decorate the space while continually auto-focusing, creating a fractured journey around the temporary wasteland. On the soundtrack, passing cars, trains, people and other sounds of the space intermingle with semi-musical textures and field recordings, situating it somewhere between being part of the urban environment, and existing in a world of its own, a colorful landscape scattered with fascinating minutiae. Area by Road doesn’t pass judgement on the pollution inherent in the space, it just acknowledges its troubling beauty: "...all land, no matter what has happened to it, has over it a grace, an absolutely persistent beauty." —Robert Adams

Secrets of Midway Island: Fishing Virgin Waters

The film gives us a glimpse back at what fishing the Hawaiian Islands a hundred years ago was like. Join us as we head out to a tiny coral atoll located in the middle of the Pacific about halfway between the continental United States and Japan twelve hundred miles north of Honolulu known as Midway. Midway is the most remote inhabited land mass on the planet and has been closed to all but military personnel since the second World War. But in 1996 the island was opened for the first time to civilians and you can image how good the fishing was. A strategic Naval Air Facility since being bombed by the Japanese on their way to Perl Harbor forcing the United States into World War II, a 200 nautical mile, no-fly, no-marine traffic "Forbidden Zone" surrounding the entire atoll was initiated during the war and had remained in place until 1996.

Steel Giants- Mega Cranes

Higher, stronger, more robust: crane builders outperform with superlatives. Loads are getting heavier and have to be lifted to hard-to-reach places. One of the largest crane companies in Germany is the Knaack Krane company in Hamburg. The company currently has around 60 different cranes in stock, the largest of which can lift up to 750 tons. It is a long way through planning and assembly until the machine is used for the first time - the report accompanies the creation of a mega crane.
