Between September 2000 and April 2007, eight men with Turkish roots, a man of Greek descent and a German policewoman were murdered. The investigations were initially carried out exclusively in the vicinity of the non-German victims suspected of drug trafficking and organized crime. The families of the murdered were thus victims again, this time of prejudicial stigmatization. After a failed bank robbery, the trail finally led to the right-wing extremist terrorist group National Socialist Underground (NSU). After the suicide of the two main perpetrators, the trial against the only survivor of the NSU trio, Beate Zschäpe, and four alleged helpers and supporters began in 2013 and ended in 2018.

Escaping everyday life and taking on a new identity: Three very different people talk about how wrestling means pure freedom for them. Not much happens in Weinheim, a small town in Baden-Württemberg. In my trips to spectacular places characterized by highly concentrated deposits of rock - the basalt on the Pacific Ring of Fire, the sandstone in the American West, granite in the cold French Atlantic and the marble quarries in Rajasthan - I find answers.

Equipped with a Super-8 camera by Helga Reidemeister, the family had already begun filming their everyday life independently in the fall of 1969. However, when, together with Reidemeister, they looked through the four-hour material at the editing table in the summer of 1974, they realized that it depicted the family's problems only superficially and left the social context out of the picture. Reidemeister, who had not yet intervened in the film shooting, then spent a lot of time with the family and documented everyday life together with them. The result was a multi-layered mixture of family self-testimony and reflection on social relationships.

The most important man in the film is the head of the fleet, Captain Martin Hoell, who allowed PilotsEYE to accompany him on his visits to factories in Hamburg and Bremen and even to the final assembly line (FAL) in Toulouse. Aboard the maiden flight from Munich to Boston, he describes the individual stages of manufacturing needed to make this, the first of 25 aircraft for whose phasing in he is responsible.

Some 2017 G20 shots of Merkel and Trump et al inject the already heady brew with current affairs urgency.

There was a time in which the rainbow flag meant more than just the promise of a certain lifestyle. DETLEF takes us back into the turbulent days of the gay rights movement and illuminates an all but forgotten chapter in West-German history, a time of socio-political change during which the battle for fundamental rights for gays and lesbians was fought and won. Joseph Goebbels (1897-1945) was instrumental in shaping the image of the "Third Reich". The unrestrained and cynical propaganda spread under his watch contributed to Hitler's success and helped to anchor the myth of the "Führer" in the minds of the Germans. As a fanatical follower of the dictator, he supported his criminal policies unconditionally until his downfall. Consistent in his radicalism, Joseph Goebbels ended up taking his family with him to their deaths.

UNLIKE U melts into a scene, which for outsiders, is hard to comprehend. The world of trainwriters, those spray paint artists who specialize in painting trams and underground trains. Extremely undercover. Extremely criminal. Extremely forbidden. UNLIKE U portrais four generations of sprayers in Berlin, of which the oldest of the hardcore artists is already over 40 years old, while the youngest are around 17. All protagonists have one thing in common. Each one has sprayed countless trains in their lives, some of them even over a 1000.

The bears are back. Once scarcely seen in central Europe, shaggy 300 kg brown bears, are once again padding through Slovenia's Alpine forests and crossing borders into Austria and Italy. In these limestone ranges within sight of the warm Mediterranean, they hardly ever come into conflict with people - unless they sense the presence of honey. This film opens our eyes to bears' enormous power, intelligent curiosity and surprising habits: some bears hibernate with bats that huddle together and even mate in their cave, unfazed by the slumbering giant beneath. Biological research tells us the brown bear is an infallible indicator of intact biospheres: Where this top predator settles, other species thrive: from large mammals like wolves and lynx, to altogether humbler residents like mushrooms, or the Carnic honeybees. And as forests reclaim fields left fallow by the rural exodus, is this a chance for bears too?

Else, a half-breed child from the secretive harem of the German colonial elite, is the daughter of the governor's deputy Jesko von Puttkammer, who disappeared to faraway Germany. Else became an old woman who had suffered all her life from remaining fatherless. The film finally confronts Else's only half-sister from German nobility with the mulatto sister-in-law from Africa.

The German-French photographer Gisèle Freund (1908-2000) went into exile in Paris in 1933. She witnessed many major events and knew some of the most important personalities of the 20th century. Her works include the famous portrait of André Malraux and the iconic photographs of Frida Kahlo in Mexico City.

While the First World War and its battles on the Western Front are still very much anchored in our memory of history, the simultaneous battle in the East appears now to have been largely forgotten. During the course of this military action, a peculiar, state-like entity was created, a German colony in Eastern Europe, a military utopia: the Land of Ober Ost. The occupied region was to become a productive state, completely under military command; a state that was to serve not least as a deployment zone for the impending war.

Tenants of one old building in the centre of Münich are featured in this film: most of them are foreigners who work in Germany as "guest workers" (Yugoslavs, Italians, Turks, Greeks etc.). In their mother tongue, each of them tells who he or she is, and briefly talks about their major worries, new hopes and plans for the future.

Rüdiger was a child, Aki two months old and Kurt, the deputy of the pedophile leader of the sect. In 1961 they came to Chile together with 500 other German sect members and for over 40 years they lived secluded from the rest of the world. The film tells about the attempt to survive as a collective after decades of crimes such as torture and murder and shows different ways in which the individual copes with the history of the community.

The film features people from Berlin's electronic dance music scenes (primarily house music and techno, but especially their “minimal” sub-scenes). The majority of the film consists of footage of individual interviews, cut and interpolated together to create narratives around certain themes, such as music, drugs, love, addiction, friendship, and sexuality. Among the interviewees were DJs, bouncers, bartenders, and partygoers.

Conceived as the fourth part of the series under the name future past perfect, the fourth short film of the row is the result of a long-term fascination with clouds, their movements, structure/texture, and their potentially infinite variety of forms. shot from the plane on various trips, the sequences of cloud imagery are edited and collaged in different ways to match the diverse qualities of constitution and behaviour of clouds. the short movie especially focussed on so-called stratus clouds, a category of clouds that usually appears rather flat, hazy and featureless. their visual quality as seen from above may imply micro and macro structures at the same time thus potentially deceives the viewer's perception.

Metzer 58 play Punk. They were founded in a meet-up at Lebenshilfe Münster, an NGO that provides housing and other services to people with disabilities. The band consists of disabled people and able-bodied people. That doesn't really affect the topic of their songs or the amount of chaos and excess at their gigs, though. In this documentary, director Tobias Stiegler follows the band on tour and paints an intriguing portrait of Metzer 58

In the late 1920s Hansen was forced to leave Germany. The multi-talented entertainer lost his audience and was never again to be seen on a German stage. His children and many others who were part of his life tell their side of the story about the tragicomic life of the popular artist.
