La Cultura gathers all street cultures and promote various aspects of counter-cultural music, literature and other arts. Within this context, they open a boxing school as well, proposing another form of playing sports in response to a selfish, racist and homophobic system. A Movie

"motoko" collects private footage of anonymous deaths from harrowing events and disassembles them into chronophotography, then creates realtime-based algorithms. Based on this, "HASC" appropriates the wisdom of Dziga Vertov and Bruce Conner, who sought to (re-)define "cinema," and models the functioning of realtime sounds and images by (re-) convert/anchor it into a fixed format of non-realtime. The work A MOVIE explores the apparatus of sounds, images, and illusions, attempting to revive the conditions necessary to be designated as a cinema in today's timeline.

How I Became A Communist

A woman patiently cleans her chimney and tidies up her domestic space: this is a daily toil, endlessly reiterated, yet not alienated. Around her unfolds an Irish landscape, and a superimposed text unveils its still topical story, marked by England’s domination, that even Thatcher’s death will not erase. A voice-over refers to a tale by the Grimm brothers, The Bremen Town Musicians. And from this childhood memory is delineated an analysis of its libertarian subtext, as well as a history of its avatars in the context of the upheavals of 19th century Europe.

The Flaghoisters

When is the moment you think: I'm going to hoist my regional flag? Who are these flaghoisters? And what does it mean to identify with your region? These are questions that filmmaker Okki Poortvliet, theatermaker Hans van der Werf and designer Vera Vos asked. So, they went through the whole of Drenthe, a region in the North of The Netherlands where all three of them grew up, to collect as many stories as possible from hoisters of the flag of Drenthe. The Flaghoisters is a film about the confrontation between the countryside and, as people from Drenthe call it, “the city dwellers”. A story about a disappearing language, the safety of your village, greeting each other, being proud, and just acting "normal".

Cipria - Il film della vostra vita

Cipria is a ghost film: three Italian women who lived during fascism had told their lives hoping they could become a film, but the war had shattered the dream. We didn't even have an image of them: only the stories, still current, of their lives, which had been waiting for eighty years to be seen and heard. The challenge was to visualize their stories with footage shot between the 1920s and 1940s and new footage, to give each of them a face, a voice and a body.
