Call Me Sinsorga

How many times have you called someone to fix a breakdown and found a woman at the door? Probably not many. Irantzu Varela and Andrea Momoitio are two trailblazing journalists who decide to transform a century-old bridal atelier into the city's first feminist cultural center: La Sinsorga. They aim to complete the renovation using only women and use the project to create a database of women in the heavily male-dominated construction sector. Five female workers are tasked with rebuilding this former symbol of romantic love. Over the course of a year, we witness the transformation unfold through a narrative where the everyday realities of construction coexist with a performative universe, revealing their fears and desires.

B.I.G - A World First

On September 20, 2023, Jakob Schubert was able to climb “B.I.G.” (formerly known as “Project Big”) in Flatanger, Norway—one of the most demanding sport climbing routes in the world. Originally bolted by Adam Ondra, the route remained a project for over a decade. After working on it together in 2022, Jakob returned the following year with a new idea: attempting the climb while livestreaming my tries. “B.I.G. – A World First” documents this journey—capturing not only the ascent itself, but also the mental side of pushing Jakob’s limits on a route that once felt impossible.

Tsahal

The ideologies underlying the foundation of modern Israel are explored in this documentary, the third of a trilogy (created over a twenty year span) exploring the Jewish experience. The two earlier documentaries, "Porquoi Israel," and "Shoah," have had great effect on the ways documentaries are produced. "Tsahal" zeroes in on the crucial role of the military in Israeli society and politics. The film uses many in-depth interviews to present the many feelings and thoughts about the Israeli military.

Fotbal

In 1965, the experienced director Jaroslav Mach made a documentary film with staged scenes, which dealt with the current problems of popular Czech sport. Behind the scenes of football, the playmakers looked through slavoje's team, which is preparing for the decisive match. If Coach Ram doesn't force his boys to perform convincingly, they're in danger of relegation to league two. After a series of dramatic peripeteias, Slavoj takes the field so weakened that he is caught up in the dreaded failure. Fortunately, the club's fans will eventually take their anger out on the loss of "their" team to an innocent referee. The film also features criticism of officials... In addition to actors Martin Růžek and Bohumil Šmída, Machov's film appeared real footballers Dukla and period sports stars (e.g. František Plánička).

Among other things, he works as a mechanic for wealthy drivers and tries, as best he can, to continue to make his mark on the circuit, until perhaps reaching his ultimate goal, driving on the Nascar circuit.

Friendship of Men

In this docudrama Rosa von Praunheim looks into Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s sexual orientation, especially into his erotic experiences during his travels in Italy. Contrary to the common belief, von Praunheim argues that Goethe was not a heartbreaker and conqueror after all. It was only in Italy, that he had diverse sexual experiences, not least with men. Von Praunheim bases his assumption on letters written by Goethe to his friend Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi about these sexual encounters. Some of the content of these letters is re-encated in the film. At the same time, historians and linguists analyse and classify the letters into their historical context.

Opera Vertical

Vertical Opera is a documentary film directed by Jean-Paul Janssen, with climbers Patrick Edlinger and Jean-Paul Lemercier in the Gorges du Verdon. The film opens with a training sequence of Patrick Edlinger then he links the routes with Jean-Paul Lemercier "L'Ange en décongelation" (7a), in which he falls voluntarily to demonstrate the usefulness of the rope, then "Le Septième Saut" (7b+). Finally, the final scene, an anthology, consists of a close-up of Edlinger who climbs free solo and barefoot the route "Débiloff", still in the Verdon, above hundreds of meters of void, all to lyrical music. It is "Wie Furchtsam Wankten Meine Schritte", the aria for alto voice from Johann Sebastian Bach's cantata BWV 33, music not unrelated to the subject of the documentary: "How faltering and fearful my steps were".
