Narration of one of the most lacerating events in the history of this municipality in the Sierra de Cádiz: the murder of 15 neighbors, without trial or formation of any cause. Some of these victims had fled in September 1936 but ended up returning to the municipality, probably in February 1937. It was on that date that the town's Falangists arrested them and executed them, and not as previously thought in the summer of 1936. Several survivors and relatives of those massacres narrate what the arrests of the women and the shootings were like. They also talk about the exhumation of the bodies of these 15 women, where for many years family and friends have brought flowers.

In the highlands of Tigray - northern Ethiopia - on the edge of the escarpment that descends steeply to the Danakil dessert, Hagos Mashisho and Desta Gidey have toiled and struggled for years to turn the rugged slopes of the East African Rift Valley into fertile ground. They have grown crops here not only to feed themselves and their family, but also to share with others, in particular the pilgrims who regularly pass by on their way to the monastery of Gundagundo. Touched by the kindness of their hosts, the pilgrims have given them the biblical names "Abraham" and "Sarah". The film explores the work ethos and grace of these Tigrean farmers: the cheerful mood with which they do what needs to be done; the devotedness to the tasks at hand; the coordinated movements of humans and animals as they work when ploughing, sowing, harvesting, threshing; - and finally those moments of invocation when the dependence on nature and the transcendent are acknowledged.

Each episode profiles the influence of radical Marxists on various segments of American society. With President Trump executing missile strikes in Syria and radical Islamic terrorism being as big a threat as it ever has been, we need to understand how these oppressive regimes and extremist ideologies got started and empowered. Working with Dangerous Documentaries, director Judd Saul and conservative commentator Trevor Loudon have compiled a team of researchers who have uncovered the history of the Soviet Union's meddling in Middle Eastern politics, creating a new enemy for the United States, and learned that Russia's continuing alliance with Islamists is forwarding a radical domestic threat in America today.

On December 21, 2017, the writer Heinrich Böll would have turned 100. In the Federal Republic, Böll, who received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1972, was tremendously present and well-known. His criticism of media hectoring, his commitment to peace and his solidarity with the weaker made him, the writer, a kind of moral authority. Whoever wants to get to know him anew today - 33 years after his death - discovers a personality with amazingly modern, timelessly topical sides, with themes and concerns that today, far more than 30 years after his death, have a completely new meaning again: Anti-fascism, pacifism, the fight against media agitation, personal freedom, solidarity and comprehensive humanity. In Tina Srowig's documentary, Böll's son René, his publisher Reinhold Neven DuMont and friends and companions recall important stages, great successes, turbulent conflicts and very human, moving and amusing moments in the writer's life.

"Gregg Bordowitz's 2017 performance lecture "Only Idiots Smile" features the artist on a stool in the New Museum's top-floor sky room, riffing on the formation of his identity. At one point, he explains his 'Jewish identity is the template thru which I understand all my other identities… how to appear to others, how we’d like to seem to others,' how others might frame themselves to be seen by us. In this way, Bordowitz gestures at what seems to be the most legible piece of this exhibition, templates for framing — each artist explores variations on the frame through presentation, history, fantasy, sculptural construction, and material." — Rindon Johnson

Short film that invites us to think about the relation between the presence of iron — a fugitive from the stars, sleeping deep inside the earth — and the veins of warm-blooded mammals. On May 4, 1992 in Toronto, a march against anti-Black police violence turned into a riot. The march was organized by the Black Action Defense Committee, a civil rights group and police and criminal justice system watchdog founded by members of Toronto’s Black community. While media and politicians called it a riot, others, including anti-racism activists, called it a “rebellion,” even an “uprising.” “It Takes A Riot” is a provocative new documentary film exploring the events of May 4, 1992, its historical context, political impact, and relevance to contemporary struggles against anti-Black racism. On the 25th anniversary of the Yonge Street “riot”—and with racial injustice, police killings of Black people, and the Black Lives Matter movement on the front pages—this documentary asks: What does it take for Black people to get justice in this society?
